Maidenhead 1-0 Billericay

Poor game - practically 0 on the entertainment scale. Maidenhead's goal came midway through the 2nd half when a free kick was launched forward by their goalie and slotted home by Yaku. Other than that neither keeper had much to do. Billericay need to sort out how to play when Brennan is injured - little creativity on offer today.

yeah i knew it was gonna be a bad day when our coach driver mr richard head tried to get to maidenhead via beachy head. perhaps he knew summin we didnt..it was a shocking game and quite frankly it was a surprise either side managed to find the net. i can only remember 1 clear cut chance for us when carthy managed to hit the keeper when clean through. with baker on loan and bubb apparantly kicked out all of a sudden we are looking a bit like me, thin up top. i agree we missed brennan badly he just seems to make his own time out there. on the positive side defensively we looked sound again, i think everyone was surprised when they managed to score and the lads showed plenty of huff and puff out there despite not seeming to have the know how to break the house down. A touch of farce near the end when GC appeared to be sent off by the vertically challenged ref, i just wonder whether that was a case of mistaken identity!!!!think 10 points from 5 games (3 away) is still a decent effort and lets hope brennan gets fit soon and whispers of a new forward are correct. and finally tx to Gary Calder Racing for sponsoring the coach which meant the best part of 50 fans got there fer nothing...Good on Yer

Don't panic!! (not just yet anyway), but this was shades of last season. Both the Graham brothers haven't found thier pre-season form, which is a bit worrying. Defensivley we looked alright but going forward we lacked a bit of creativity. Just read Joe Baker was Aylesbury's man of the match, which can only be good. Does anybody know why Bubb left?

i don't think we should get so hung-up about one loss. we didn't lose any positions in the table and it is still early days. You could compare this season to last season if you want, but all i think is that this season we have much more quality on the pitch, yet these players have yet to produce their top form. the next two games should be very interesting. we play bedford tuesday and sutton on saturday both at home. i feel that this current squad of players are more than capable of gaining at least four points from these two games, as i feel we are stronger than both teams. however it wont be easy, the lads have got to pick themselves up from the disappointment at maidenhead and get some more points on the board on tuesday.

COME ON U BLUES!!

I think that the loss is not the issue - it was how we played. To me we seemed to have gone there for the draw. Heads were low from the minute we kicked off. There was not the usual level of shouting from the bench so I can only imagine that this was the plan (I heard shouts of "Do your job" from the bench).

Lee Williams and Martin Carthy seemed to be man-marking members of the opposition. This left the midfield empty and the strikers with very little service. He needs to let the players play.

Gary Calder seems to spend too much time worrying about the opposition rather than concentrating on putting some fight into the team. His number 1 aim is not to conceed at games - however you don't win anything with 1-0 wins. If GC is going to places for a draw then his ambition does not match that of the club and something should be done.

I realise it is early in the season, but the way we are playing with different players seems to illustrate GC's style and I think it is wrong.

Interesting point about the midfield - on the coach on the way up we were speculating that we might go for a 5 man midfield similar to when we went to Boreham Wood. With Brennan injured, Henty could have come in for Wallace. The extra man in midfield would have helped us get more possession, space was so cramped against Maidenhead that the attacking players were feeding off scraps. We've got a couple of tough games coming up now which will tell us more about whether or not we've got the mental toughness and will to win.
