CK and The Future

Discussion held elsewhere about possible signings for next season and CKs future with regard to what he said on the radio.IMO he is quite clear, at the moment no signings are possible because of the embargo, this will not be lifted until the club sorts out its finances,so in other words if he cannot sign any body what is the point of staying ,his loyalty and commitement are beyond question, but for how much longer. As far as the ground goes still vey uncertain I am afraid, one has only to look at the Councils Planning web site to see the dates when applications went in.They do not add up IMO. I think CK has made his position perfectley clear.Good Luck To Him!!!

The ground IS being built! This team we have had this year will thrive on a little drop in class anyway so until we are in the position to make signings we should be positive with the current squad because a drop in status will to their favour as well as ours.

Seems reasonable to me. Though, do remember he did make Radio Kent look totally stupid when Gravesend were looking for a manager and RK said he was a shoo-in for it (remember when Jodie Fielder did her Jeremy Paxman on him?) It may be a case of them having a little dig.

1/ No-one knows if and when the ground will be ready to host football. (only soil shifting and hole filling to date).

2/ No-one knows if and when the embargo will be lifted.

Because of the above:

3/ No-one knows which if any of the players will be staying.

4/ No-one knows if the manager will be staying.

5/ We have finished second to bottom in a mediocre league.

I know, let's have a PARTY after the game on Saturday.

Agreed! Why not?

What has happened has happened and its no good trying to be miserable about it. It won't change things. Besides those of us fans that CAN see a better future and for those that have met for the first time during this saga can now have a drink as a unit with the team and gaffer in tow. We aren't happy about the relegation but its happened. Every year teams are being relegated. It just happens to be our turn this year. Looking forward to seeing you at the do then saturday night then.

Absolutely right Cookie. The victory for us this year is that we still have a club! And on the assumption that the ground gets done and finance is in place, we do have the nucleus of a decent side. Like others, I've spoken to CK and some of the players, and yet I'm sure I don't fully appreciate what it has really been like for them all trying to platy football with such uncertainty hanging over the club. What is without question is the loyalty of CK and the players during a period of great uncertainty. Let's be clear, they could all have buggered off long before now. So celebratiion IS appropriate in my book.
