for a good day.

The hospitality was excellent, your fans etc.. were very pleasant.

All the best with the problems you have encountered.

Even though its a reasonable journey to your place ,it wasn't too bad and we welcome you next season to the pirelli stadium all being well.

Perhaps you'll want revenge next season?

Last season Burton were the only team to take six points off of us this season quite a few teams took six points (although some didn't take them so we had to give them away) I have a very bad feeling about next season

Glad you enjoyed your day though.

Because there was no relegation for the bottom three clubs last season we all started this year knowing that there were some cr*p teams in this league that we were going to finish above.
Next seson they will be gone.
Clubs like Canvey, Tamworth, Northwich, ourselves and maybe one of the promoted sides will be fighting it out for three relegation places.

Surely full time football, and the prospect of better players next season, gives us grounds for optimism.

Yes, but Burton have been turning full-time and they still managed to finish below us this year. We must be realistic and accept that the switch will probably not bring instant rewards. Like Slarti, I feel a relegation struggle is far more likely next season than an attempt at the play-offs.

Billericay are also full time and look where they are.

Just because a player doesn't have another job does not mean that he is a better player.

In many cases it will actually make it much harder to attract players...if you are a footballer with a decent job and want to play at the highest level you can without giving up your job then a part-time team in the conference would be fairly attractive, if you want to play full time then we would be about 107 on your list of English clubs.

I agree with what you write 100% Slarti. Since Daish has been at the club he has done nothing to suggest to me that he's any good. As a supporter i have not been excited with anything Daish has done. I wasnt a fan of his appointment and im still not im afraid. I admit he didnt want to splash resources around before transfer deadline but the players he did bring in are simply not good enough. Was it a case that the only reason why we signed Sigere was because Kimble had played a few games with him at Heybridge. Im doubtful whether he has the knowledge at this level to succeed. If u dont have the knowledge thats fine then u need to be a shrewd tactician and although ive never met the guy listening to his post match interviews, i dont think he´s smart enough either. I was in the anti Andy campain after the previous summers inept pre-season and shoddy signings but Andy worked a miracle with the resources he had as we all know. I think as has been mentioned on other posts Daish has done nothing that Andy wouldnt have done had he been here and given the resources Daish will get next year with full time players i would feel a lot more happy if it was Andy in charge of purse strings and tactics then Liam.

Agree with you there Matt, but I'm gonna withhold my opinions until he's built a new team for us. Then we'll see.

Gotta say that I've actually had exactly the same thought there. Looking at what the list of teams in the conference are next season, can't see us doing anything else than battling against relegation again. That's unless we see a rapid change in the club over the summer.

Oh well if you want to be negative, be negative

In fact, Andy remarked recently that he had also been on the look-out for Sigere towards the end of his reign here.

In all seriousness, my gut feeling is to agree with Matt about feeling more confident if Andy was still in charge. That said, I'm quite willing to give Liam the chance to shape the squad over the summer, and then and only then will my judgement on him be forthcoming.

Couldn't agree more. Would have loved to see what Andy could have achieved with players on a full time basis.

Feel very flat at the moment, and have the feeling that next season could be tougher than this one.

 • 3 months later...

Cheers for reminding me of my comments...

To me it looked a mistake allowing Fordy to go at the time, and I still stick to that view.

I know a futile gesture but I boycotted buying a season ticket this year because of it. ( Futile as it actually benefits the club as I will now end up coughing up more during the season, but it was a gesture none the less)
