Marks out of 10

Not the greatest season ever. Here are my markings out of 10.

Pullen 8. Great hands, consistent performer.

Wilko 7. Good shot stopper, still prone to flapping.

Skinner 8. Mr 110%. No-one challenging him at club yet.

Gledhill 8. Surprise performer. Has held the defence together since xmas.

Bunce 7 . Strong as an ox, and as pacy. Scary and reliable.

Porter 8 Once free of injury became the class act we know he is.

McCarthy 6. Some commanding performances, but is this one season too many for him?

Protheroe 7. The most cultured right foot in the club, tarnished his reputation at Stevenage.

Saunders 9. outstanding season. Proved he is best as an attacking midfielder, tough tackling and scores goals.

McKimm 8. Solid captains season, still the heart of the team, but sometimes looks short of the required class.

Surey 6. Get up and down, strong in the tackle. Cannot shoot or pass to save his life.

Jackson 8. Got better as the season wore on. Blinding game against Stortford. Deserved to be on the winning side.

Lovell 7. Bags of potential. Lots of attitude. If harnessed could go a long way in football.

Onoyimni 6. A proven scorer, simply too injury prone. Seems to frail for this league.

Essandoh 5. A player of his talent should score bags more goals. He is unlucky at times, but gets himself lost on the wing at times.

Sigere. 5. Looks short of class at this level.

Pinnock. 6. Never looks like scoring, but not played in his favoured position, behind a front 2.

Drury 7. Needs to be more consistent. On his day a matchwinner. Those days are too infrequent.

 

I won't mark Messrs Deane, Groombridge or Moore. Hope they all get more chances next term.

 

Daish 6. Still learning about his players, but has made some strange substitutions, and odd tactics. Benefit of the doubt this year.

Not the best of seasons indeed - a fact that shines in the prediction league with only 2 people scoring bonus points for top scorer and none for number of goals.

 

Perhaps we all got carried away by Roy's exploits at the end of last season.

I agree with your scores mostly, although how you could give Manny a lower score that Pinnock for being injury prone rather than just straight out cr@p is beyond me.

 

There's a few players in the team that need culling, hopefully we'll see a new and improved Gravesend and Northfleet next season.

 

Regardless of the way we finished the season and of some of the bleeding poor games we have seen lately, I have faith that we'll do better next season.

We DO have the players that can make the top half of the table a permanent home for us and with a couple of tweaks and changes here and there I can see a future for us in the play offs.
