Begrudging.....

Recommended Posts

....congrats on your title win, but just bide your time before going gorilla faeces about going up/sideways (a la last season), as a little meet with one of the following might mean yet another couple of midweek league encounters with Romford next season.

Walton Casuals, Bishops Cleeve/Didcot, Brook House/Enfield/Hertford/Ilford, Ramsgate, Rushall Olympic, Goole/Harrogate Railway/Selby, Fleetwood/Newcastle Town, Potters Bar, Lymington & NM/Winchester.

If all pans out as planned, five go up automatically with 3 play-offs to be held on May 3rd so I have been informed.

Big crowd today I hear? KP said 210 and that was before they counted the kids. And Clarky back...must be a cup final coming up!

From Mr Kempsters site

"If necessary, the National League Committee will arrange a series of play-off matches between the clubs eligible for promotion. A draw will be carried out in January 2005 to determine a format.

* See note below

As then names of clubs will not be known at this stage, the draw will be league based. At the conclusion of the playing season should a league not be in a position to nominate an eligible club then the league shown as its opponents in the play-off draw will receive a walkover.

f. Each play-off will consist of one game, which will be played to completion with extra time and kicks from the penalty mark being used to determine the winner should the scores be equal after 90 minutes.

g. The 8 winning teams from the play-off games will be placed Into the Promotion/Relegation Pool and allocated to the most geographically convenient division at Step 4. "

So if it is league based and carried out in January 2005 the draw must be known to someone!

Although I think it is probably well known that Enfield Town are not one of my favourite teams, I don't begrudge them their title win.

At the end of the day the most consistant team won with only one defeat to date (and who was that to ? )

My only regret is that The Abbotts, ultimately, did not push them further. But hey we still have three cup finals to look forward to and the possibility of finishing runners-up.

It all looks good for local football (apart from Cheshunt and Hoddesdon )

All the best for the future AFTER 2/5. See you there!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the FA realised what a stupid system they had thought up for the draw, partly because as one time it looked like there might be less that eight eligible applicants for promotion, so they decided to postpone the draw until it was known who and how many were going to be in it.

I thought it was on another's site but I may be wrong.

It can't be May 3rd as that would not give enough timne to arrange the matches, with the ESL and presumably other leagues not finishing until 30 April.

One day supporters will not only run clubs, but the FA as well............
