Commiserations lads (and lasses) on the relegation.

Good luck in the Ryman or wherever you end up next season, just keeping my fingers crossed for a win at Newport next week or we may well be joining you.

I think the work you put in ensuring your clubs survival this year is a credit to you all. Shame it had to end like this, but that, as they say, is football.

Cookie, it is good to be optimistic about our chances next season but I think our success depends on whether the financial problems are sorted so that the transfer embargo is lifted. If we have more or less the same squad look at how we fared against Ryman opposition this season in cup matches, losing at Braintree and Walton and Hersham (Ryman 1!)and we were fortunate to say the least to get past Cray (Ryman 1)in the KSC. Hopefully some of the main under-achievers will move on (mentioning no names but a certain striker and a midfielder who have vast conference experience)which will enable us to bring in some fresh faces who might wear their hearts on their sleeves and take us back up. After all, many thought that conference south would be a cake-walk and look what happened! Nothing wrong in setting our sights high but it may take us more than one season to get back to conference level. The main thing is we will be trying to do it back at HP. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

We need a new striker that will work hard, win headers and give every game his all. A Collins or syko type player would do. Also a fast skillful winger like Eliot Martin was. Undecided on the goalkeeping situation but could probably do with another one. Lets hope that old faithful John Keister, Greg Oaks, Che and Clarke stay and smith. They could be the key to building a new squad. Id also like to see bill edwards on the training team. I also think we need players to be contesting for places in the team. When we're back at hartsdown with a reserves and youth section and money from sponsorship, I hope things should get better.

Critically the embargo must be lifted.

Add Mark Green to those who must stay.

I reckon we need a tall central defender to play alongside JK and Smith.

One or two 'hard' midfield players alongside Gradley.

Build from defence and midfield and the attack will look after itself.

Ideal scenario-all the current squad stay-incl Conor Lander and we get two new midfield players and a proper defender.

Thats just 3 additions but if they train properly in the summer-get some shape, thenthat will do.

Maybe an striker;but not essential.

Rocky,Darren and Che have had to make their own chances, let alone score them.

As above-sort midfield and defence and the rest sorts itself.

If you don't concede you only have to score one goal a game to win.

If you don't concede and only score every other game you win 21 games and draw 21 -thats 84 points minimum.

Stop the other team scoring and you succeed

I think hidden amongst my post was the general message that the fewer you concede, the easier it is; and in turn, the fewer you need to score to win games.

If you concede 2 goals or more a game, that means over 42 games you need to score 126 goals to win -how many teams do that.

Successful sides build from defence (and defence starts in midfield)
