Subs Hill, Stowe for Elsegood on 57, Martin for Allen on 66, Kwakye for Tomlinson on 50.

 

Urchins started well, and dominated play. Tomlinson was booked on 8 mins when he went headlong inside the area.

 

A few mins later Bowes was also floored inside the area, the referee waving play on.

 

Goal - Walshe 19 - a free kick after Hornchurch had given the ball away midfield and then given away a needless free kick. This was St Albans first real goal attempt.

 

Clarke 37 - another definsive lapse, as Clarke was allowed to run on unchallenged into a shooting position.

 

A Glynn free kick went narrowly over the bar.

 

Stowe comes on - why was he not in the starting line up?

 

Ibe 60 - this followed a spell when Urchins could do little right.

 

Goal - The Doog crosses on 75 and Stowe nets.

 

One minute later, one of those goals you cannot account for - a shot from Ibe streaks into the net from a narrow angle.

 

Stowe again on 79 and Urchins are right back in it.

 

Stowe shoots narrowly wide a couple of mins later.

 

Beech nets at the other end, but is offside.

 

With four mins of stoppage time to play, Southon tackles back on the edge of the area, and his shot beats Bostock for the third goal.

 

A good first half, but ruined by two silly errors, when St Albans were not all that impressive. Second half, Urchins fell away until Stowe and Martin came on.

Still in with a shout of the play offs, if other results go our way next Sat. Club deserve over 1k Unc, gutted I won't b there to be 1 of them.

Quality day out, one of the best all season. Great fun and Jamies goal was the flukiest (if thats a word) goal I have ever seen, great.

I couldn't understand it either, Stowie and Keith did so well last week <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> also Eric on the bench now i know he has come back from injury but he tor them apart on the Right wing.

IMO I Didn't Think He Dived But Some Referees Would Of Given The Penalty.

Have to dissagree with starting with Stowie, yes, he scored 2 last week but do you think he played well??? He does much better starting from the bench as showed yeaterday!

He is the club's top scorer - seven goals in four starts plus nine subs.

 

All his goals have been in the second half, possibly because he has only played in four first halfs.

 

It is somewhat unusual to keep your leading scorer on the bench for over half the match. It tends to limit his scoring chances somewhat.

 

I would say that, along with Sean Dear, Chris Stowe is the "find" of the season - taking his "half matches" into account, his scoring rate is equal to that of Wayne Purser's.

don't think so Daggsy...we've been keeping tabs on stowie for three years now since we let him go from Hx to Hampton and then got him fixed up at ricay (once on loan and once on a contract)..

 

he has always struggled to play a full 90 minutes but is getting older and wiser now and next year I think you will see the best of him...lets hope so as the talent is enormous..

I agree about Stowie. I think that with a slightly maturer head he can be a very good player. As Unc says, the talent he has is obvious but he's learning the game and does make some silly errors and can be overly ball greedy.

 

He's done a super job for us though and I really hope we can keep him for next season!

I think he has been a great buy remember seeing him play preseason against Basildon last season he was great scored a stonker but the vanished to timbuck too (ricay) lol
