"It is vital that Rovers do not fall into second from bottom place in the league as if any team is ejected from the league during the summer then Rovers could earn a reprieve from relegation. To achieve this Rovers must get at least a draw against Canvey Island this Saturday which would leave Rovers in the third from bottom spot, kick-off is at 3.00pm".

I think this is a reference to the possible demotion of Northwich. The Conf bigwigs have given them a deadline of May 31 to have their new ground ready (they still share Witton Albion's ground). Given that Northwich are still in administration they may be on dodgy ground if the new stadium is not ready.

PS - Gravesend have apparently been told to complete the necessary work on their ground by June 7 to bring it up to 4000 minimum Conf capacity. No doubt this is a formality, but it did make me wonder what (if anything) we have been told as I don't believe our ground holds 4000 ? I believe clubs have two years to sort their grounds out when they go up to the next level (rather than having to do it in advance as was previously the case).

It's all a farce!

Should anything happen to Northwich or Gravesend, (with regards to their grounds - I find that unfair, considering they have 3 and 1/2 months during the close-season to get it all done) Any sort of punishment for that should be no home friendlies, and their league games played behind closed doors.

However if the money woes at Northwich are true and they get chucked out the Conference. I don't think any of the relegated teams should get a reprieve. If anyone replaced them surely it would be the Conf. North/South Playoff Finalists for getting where they did by merit and achievement rather than a relegated team, clutching at straws staying up on a technicallity of another Clubs unfortunate circumstances.

After our last two games, I definately wanna see Forest Green go and stay down.

Didn't a similar situation happen with the Bedford/St. Albans Ryman Play-off final last season with regards to Hendon opting to stay in the Ryman? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Not a downer at all. It's just with the end of this season being so tight for us until last Tuesday. The thought of us and Forest Green being seperated on something as tight as goal difference, (if the situation had called for it) and we took a breather knowing Forest Green were going down, but then being reprieve due to another teams cycle of events, just seems a little disappointing.

I just thought it would be a little harsh on the losing Play-off finalists, not being promoted for where they got rather than Forest Green, (of if it came to it by some miracle, Farnborough) not being relegated despite where they finished.

So basically - Relegated teams, (whoever the are) should go down nether the less of other teams circumstances. Even though I find the ground situations quite unfair anyway.

I`ve no axe to grind with any of the teams involved but i do think Northwich are pushing their luck after already having a seasons grace to sort out the ground.

Matt what if (and i`m not saying it`s happened) one of the relagated teams have spent most of their budget on keeping the ground up to standard which left little for players while a team who finishes above them has spent all their budget on players while letting the ground fall into disrepair, who should go down.

last season of course none of the bottom three Conf sides were relegated: Margate were demoted (no ground), Telford went bust and Northern Premier champions ground (Hucknall ?) was deemed unfit for the Conf. If anybody is demoted, maybe the best solution would be a one-off game between 3rd from bottom and candidate team to come up - at least it would be a footballing solution.

What ever happens it wont make a difference to those going for promotion, three will come down from the Conf National, whether relagated or thrown out, three new teams will be coming up so long as their own entry standards are met.

Our ground can easily take 4000

As MOB says, our ground has easily got a 4000+ capacity, the stand at the car park end holds 2000 on it's own. The capacity issue has been raised several times over the season, mainly by "local rivals" but as i've said our ground has always been up to the conference standard on each occasion that promotion looked possible. I believe our actual capacity is nearer 5k.
