Yeading V Slough

Great performance from Slough. Could have had a few more as well, but Yeading had the majority, if not all, of the second half pressure bar a few moments here and there.

Credit to those who played for the turn around in performance from Saturday. Great vocal support from the Barmy Army tonight, who even stood along the side for the second half to make use of the small covered area.

Good game. We took an early lead from a Matt Murphy lob. They pulled a goal back almost imeediately when the limesman said that a shot after a corner had gone in (but could not see from behind the goal).

A deflected Leigh Mason shot from the edge of the area (our first from the edge all season!!) put us in front.

They then had a five minute spell, but another corner saw a Matt Murphy header hit Josias Carbon on the goal-line for what would have been 3-1 - how is your luck!

It was 3-1 when Murph rose again to nod in a Steve Daly knockdown and the rest of the half we were in no trouble at all.

Fairly even start to the second-half, but after about 65 mins they started to dominate - but we still looked dangerous on the break.

Steve Whales hit a cracking volley to make it 3-2 with bout 20 minutes remianing.

Mason then had a chance to make it 4-2, but shot was saved.

With minutes remaining and us holding back heavy Yeading pressure (although they created few chances) Seedel robbed a defender and shot wide when a pull back to Murph 2 probably would have sealed the win.

Then in injury-time Michael Murphy conceded a free kick and BFR's mate Nevin Saroya volleyed in - good point but, shame when we came so close to a win.

Fantastic game. Best I've seen all season. Desperately annoying to concede a late equaliser but you could see it coming. They're a fantastic attacking team with pace, skill and strength all over the park and really put the pressure on for most of the second half. As Chris P said, they're frightening when going forward. If only Carbon hadn't blocked Murphy's shot and Seedel had made more of the chance when he rounded the keeper... we had chances in the first half to go in with an even more commanding lead but it wasn't to be. In a pulsating second half, Yeading also hit the post, with a rebound header going agonisingly wide.

Clear differences can be seen though between Yeading and Billericay, and frankly the rest of the league. Things like, every cross that Yeading put in tonight was a good one (I just couldn't look sometimes when we were defending corners); things like the pace and strength of every player; and things like being able to come back from 3-1 down.

As Matt has already said, best game I've seen this season. We were excellent but Yeading also played well and a draw was probably a fair result, although if we'd won, I don't think they could have complained. Great turn around from Saturday, well done to all the lads.
