Understand what your saying but the way things are. Yes people do want to be away from the sea. It is bedsit land if i were visiting i would like to stay well away from that. And visit that in the daytime and retreat at night. Thats the sorry state the town is in.

I bet the hotel and conference centre are total red herrings. They will be turned into flats within a couple of years.
The fans and the council look like there being taken for a ride. Via Dover and Ashford!

Showed a lack of ambition with the west side, then too much ambition with the total develoment. Just can't win when you look back, can you?

When anyone with more than half a brain looks back at it they would say the same thing.
The club should have shown ambition for football and left property developing out of it.
Their stupidity has led to 2 succesive relegations and the club playing inexile losing thousands of pounds and 100s of fans.

And no KP is not my favourite crisp.

rayw, I have never insulted you, so please refrain from doing so to me. Have your argument by all means, I will accept that we probably attended different business schools, and I think with a different side of my brain, and probably more with both sides, having a slightly different chromosome arrangement to you. But it is not necessary to resort to personal retorts in order to have a reasonably interesting argument.

It's nothing personal but it does seem a little strange that people are still defending the crazy business?????? ideas of KP and JP on here.

But the intersting arguement i think is to look at the potential of the club.

And its not just KP who has failed to realise it either. Thanet to my mind could and should support a league club at least.

Well we at least can agree on that, but we have no chance of getting near league football unless we start looking forward, building, and getting on with it. The answer to achieving our potential lies ahead, and not behind. The past is gone and we cannot affect that. So why can we not go with what has now started and work together to accomplish our aims?

OK, obviously everybody needs to be as united as possible if the potential is to be realised.
But shouldnt that mean fans having more say in the running of the club. Id like to see the club having a supporters rep elected on to the board by the fans. More info about who owns what shares and may be a new share release to raise some cash.

I'm not sure if there would be any point having a supporters' rep on the board if they would just be outvoted all the time, Roy. And, as we can see from this forum, fans hold a wide variety of opinions – can one person represent everyone? The danger is it would be a bit of PC, tokenist thing.

Interesting idea about the shares, though, Ray, Folkestone Invicta has a scheme along those lines, where you can pay a bit a month. I think many fans would be interested in owning a bit of their club, and a fans' representative would be also a good idea. However, our club is in private ownership, and I could quite understand that these ideas might be a little scary for them, considering that efforts in the past have been made to undermine the present structure. To sell that idea to them I think they would have to learn to trust us, and for some of the more sceptical fans to trust them. The club would have to agree to it. Big task. But food for thought.

The point would be a bridge between the club and fans and ensuring information is spread to all interested.
I think the club needs to do more to show appreciation for the fans loyalty. And the fans rep should give the club feedback on the supporters opinion not just their own.

Is'nt the commercial project also supported by a Mr Gary Lever and his company whose name escapes me-(CMC ?) who has rather more experience than most of us put together in these matters; and quite rightly he wants to make a profit from it.

Maybe the idea is not just supported and advocated by KP and previously JP

A lot of fans have lost their clubs and/or grounds to businessmen with dodgy plans.
Ask the old fans of Walthamstow Av,Ilford and Leytonstone if some doubt needs to be exercised.
again and agin fans have been sold crappy ideas on the basis that it makes sound financial sense and a new dawn is just around the corner.

Oh yes and closer to home look what happened to Maidstone United.

I hope KP is being totally honest about his intentions with fans but the last few years cant exactly fill anyone with confidence.
