As I went into ground this afternoon I saw TWO small diggers both at work with one guy raking over holes after filling. How big are you talking about Dave. Must have got bigger since 2.30pm this afternoon. Were those small diggers still there at the time you looked in Dave. Looks like this particular effort will take some time. As Dave said high hopes that further developers will arrive soon. Needs some faster motion i.m.o.

I see strips have been taken away now from behind the goal,Coffin end. Still a long way to go before we really see a difference from what it was before but it IS happening, slowly but surely. Yes, Dave the big digger is in there now as can be seen on the clubs gallery. Could do with two or three more of those things then work would really get cracking. Looking forward to seeing further contractors invade the ground.

Went to HDP this afternoon, one small digger, one big,2/3 guys working filling in holes. The main thing that concerns me most is that time is running out for the laying of the turf, they wanted to seed it but that is now too late but if things dont get a move on ie, more plant and more men it will be to late even to lay turf.

The holes have to be filled properly, and very well compacted, so that we do not get subsidence where they were later on. It is a case of not running before we can walk. As a Mrs Bodgit of some standing I can honestly say that the preparation for building jobs is the most boring, slow-moving and frustrating bit, as nothing much seems to progress, even though a lot of effort goes in. But get the ground work done well and the finishing is a piece of cake. Patience, everyone. Rome was not built in a day. And grass grows like a b*gger when the weather gets warm! Just wait and see!

Is well understood as to what you are sayimg MF and impatience gets to us all none more so than I but to my reckoning what those two small diggers and one large one are doing could be done by two larger diggers at maybe a little extra cost but with the time shortened in doing the work that expense could be counterbalanced and give the other contracters more time to continue and finish the other building and pitch laying works.

Still as you say this particular aspect will take the brunt of the time with whatever equipment is available so with either two small/one large/two large diggers the work will in fact speed up once this has been completed. Funny how once upon a time just to see something happening would have been acceptable where as now I for one am looking for more speedier progress. Tony M is correct to mention the time we have left and whilst I am positive that the club have it all in hand it does slightly concern me that this initial work could be taking up more time than was envisaged.

Has this first stage been under-estimated I wonder.

Suppose we just have to wait and see. We have no other choice.

There is plenty of time! Chelsea laid a new pitch half way through the season last year. That was two weeks start to finish and then playing a premiership match on it. we have the whole of the summer for it settle properly. Once they get going properly it will move along nicely. We had a 1000 seater stand built in a week for the Fulham match and its a temporary stand for the time being this time.

Oh flippin 'ek, lads, considering how long we have waited for any sign of going home, couldn't we be happy for a bit?

Just for today, we are going to win our last two games, other results will go our way, the stadium will absolutely be ready for next season, the grass will be green and lush and velvety as only our groundsman can make it, there will be no potholes in the pitch, CK will keep the bulk of the squad, make some good strategic signings, have a decent pre-season, we can all look forward to an amazing benefit game for Bill, there will be an excellent food outlet to give us all gorgeous chips and hot dogs, and we can all look forward with renewed hope and motivation for a great season next year when we meet up in our lovely clubhouse for an excellent beer or two ... OK?

Tomorrow you can go back to pessimism again if you like.

Was going to say, steady on MF-we only raised a few concerns about the grass.

You should know us men get very excited about our front lawns.

You wait till we start discussing which way the stripes go when its cut-circular,squares.across the pitch etc..

Yes we are grateful for small mercies and will be happy to see the Gate play on Margate sands if needs be.Thing is, if the pitch don't settle and stabilise, it will be like Margate sands by mid-season,and we all know we play better on a decent pitch
