BIG THANKYOU TO BRUNOB

Recommended Posts

Brunob,

I really appreciate the time and effort you went to compiling that cd of photos for me i included that in my parcel to the states today.

Im sorry that i didnt come chat in the bar after and i do apoligise if it looked rude but to be quite honest we was all pretty gutted and just wanted to go.

In all honesty though we was never really in the game and the better side won on the day. Must say how impressed i was on the continued improvements over your place the majority of your supporters are brillinat and i wish you all the best for the remainder of the season and for next if you leave the league as you deserve it.

But still im sure we will cross paths again soon so next time we do il get you a pint.

cheers again

WHEELER

At some point I will get round to putting up a web site with my photos from Town games on it. But at the moment I am completely rewriting the ETFC site again (and it was only September I did it the last time!).

The Town site won't look a great deal different from the way it does now but it will make any upgrades in future a whole lot easier.

can u remind me to talk to you about the website at one of the games please? i keep forgetting to, but i need to chat about players' profiles / pic's etc.

OK. See you at Burnham. This is something that has already been mentioned to me for a "wish list" but I will finish rewriting the site pretty much as it is now first before I start adding any extras. I will then test it to make sure I haven't mucked up the internal links and, hopefully, will have that all finished by early May. Then I just have to make sure I write down clear, concise instructions on how writing the pages will have changed so that Neil will know what he's doing with updates!

Can we now reconcider a direct link from the ETFC website onto these forums (even if the button just links to the main Fans Focus homepage rather than the ESL or Enfield Town pages).

This is in hand. It will be a link to the main Fans Focus homepage. Unlike Junior's request, this just requires a link to the outside world, as such. Extra pages on our site will take a bit more foward planning for reasons of consistency, but should not be a problem. There will be some slight differences (certain headers will be moved and there will be a direct link to the latest reports page, for instance) but on the whole it will remain looking pretty much as it does now.

That's sort of irrelevant. Neil can also update web pages, certainly on the current HTML-based site, but the new one is going to be PHP and there will technically only be one page with whatever content you want pasted into the middle. Of course, I can update the old and the new because I decided how the new version will be set out (Neil: remember the password for your e-mails next time!). I haven't yet told Neil how the links for internal pages have to be done because most of them will be different to the old ones and I want to get the site working (although not uploaded) before I sort out all of that (just in case I've mucked it all up). Most of it is now on my laptop awaiting testing.

Most of the links will go to the index page with at least one (often more) other external page pasted in. Did you do "server side includes" in your GNVQ? 'Cos that's how the site is going to work. I am using PHP rather than ASP becuase it is open source and therefore free.

Note for other webmasters: The code for all this will be released under the General Public Licence, so you will be able to copy us and muck around with the code so long as whatever you come up with is also released under the GPL. There will also be (at some point) some on-line documentation explaining how our site now works which will be released under the General Public Documentation Licence (so likewise this can be used again within the terms of the GPDL).

Junior, whatever you want to update can probably be done using a simple text editor (e.g. Notepad/Wordpad in Windows, KEdit/GEdit/Kate/KWrite in Linux, etc.). It's uploading this to the ETFC web space which might give you problems, 'cos as far as I know you haven't got our ID and password.
