Huge question mark over Waltham Abbey ?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for that, It didn't feel right to me either...unlike the game with Burnham Ramblers which was an absolute cracker and entertained us from beginning to end. Two clubs of outstanding character in that semi now result in what could be a Final of sheer quality... roll on 2nd May.

I think the general opinion of the experts is that while the body is buried somewhere in the grounds, the exact location was kept secret on purpose as the Normans would have desecrated the grave to prevent it from becoming a Saxon shrine.

Before Romford's match there last season my wife and I had a brief but enjoyable visit to the abbey before a nice lunch and drink in a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately our day went rapidly downhill after the game began.

I hope to be moored in Heybridge for a fitting out supper on Saturday night. We are leaving Burnham at around 3 in the morning Friday to catch the tide. Hope to moor at Heybridge at around 11:30 am. There is a beer festival in Maldon on Friday and catch a bus to Burnham on Saturday.

If you go to http://www.leisureowners.org.uk/new_site/new_start.shtml

the boat tied up at the quay is my Lotus Eater moored at Hullbridge on the Sunday after the Southend game.
