Before Thursday's Reserve match a group of us were discussing with Steve about the number of games he has played for Slough. At the Tonbridge game in August it was believed, and still is, that that was his 200th game for the club. Can Gary (who I believe realised this at the time) confirm whether this is starts or appearances altogether both starts and subs?

 

The reason it is important is that Steve believes that if he starts all the games before the Cup Final then that will be is 250th start for the club. Now if Tonbridge was 200 STARTS then, having consulted my Comprehensive Statistical Database , I can confirm that that is correct (if he starts all games between now and the Cup Final then he will have started 49 games between Tonbridge and the Final). However, if it was an appearance total then he will reach 250 before the Cup Final as he has come on as sub at least once this year (away at Wealdstone).

 

Whatever the answer he should reach 250 before the end of the season, a great achievement, but it would be extra special if it was a big celebration for the Cup Final.

Today's appearance took him up to 243 appearances according to the information I have, but I think I'm three out so far as Tonbridge (in my records) would have been his 197th appearance. One for Alan Smith I think...

That would fit as if you add on the missing three plus the coming games against Yeading, Folkestone and Northwood takes him to 249 and so Heybridge would be the 25oth. Steve was obviously only taking into account his starts but as he came on against Wealdstone he is one ahead of his prediction.

surely that would probably be a good time to get some of the capital league players into the first team? then steve could make his 250th at the cup final
