Ramsgate are champions

It isn't actually our first success since 1999 as we've won the league cup since then but who's counting?

And before we play Dover we have to get the ground up to standard and the work's not finished yet and then win a play-off against other promotion hopefuls. So no chickens to be counted.

Heard that Ramsgate's future league hasnt been decided yet and that they could either go into the Ryeman 1st or into the Southern eastern section. So as yet nothing definate. Also as mentioned above a play off may have to take place in any case.

Correct, there are three hurdles yet.

1) ground inspection April 30th although chairman is confident

2) potential play off although that depends who else wants promotion and has the ground standard

3) new floodlights approved by Thanet council. Probable objections from the local residents who may recall finished the plan for the groundshare at Haine, which if it had gone through would have meant Margate still in the conference and Ramsgate probably already promoted.

And yes, we might get stuck in the southern league but Rymans would be preferable for a number of reasons.

The chairman is confident that the ground will be accepted as meeting the criteria for the Rymans or Sothern League.

What did you think? The chairman is confident Peter Kay will be number one for three months? The chairman is confident Roger Gale will lose to UKIP? The chairman is confiden the FA Cup final will be abandoned due to a food fight before the game? Get with it.

Well done to Ramsgate, It shows there are a few local players who are able to play to a high standard. Just wish Margate had some local players not a castle built on sand.

With respect, I don't think you can call the Kent League (on the fifth tier of non-league) a high standard. And having local players has had no impact on their crowds – averaging 120 in a championship season is a disgrace.
