Billericay 6-0 Slough...

Recommended Posts

...and it was as easy as it sounds, even though we had our 3 leading scorers (Hockton, Elder and Cousins) watching on (cuz came on second half). Ben Price made his debut at left back and looked assured, particularly going forward. We were well on top for the first 75 minutes of the game, looked like scoring every time we went forward.

Armstrong opened the scoring 1 minute after my golden goal time (I'm not bitter, honest) then Ross made it 2 nil after their left back (one of the worst players i've seen this season) lost out to Matty Game who crossed for Ross to finish from close range. Dorms made it 3 at half time when he headed in after more good work from Ross.

2nd half saw 3 more goals from paul, albeit one took a hefty deflection off the aforementioned left back. Made a few changes, resting Dorms and Hunter and finished with the worlds smallest midfield: Armstrong - Oxby - Game - Gallagher. Lost our shape a bit as a consequence otherwise we would have easily scored more.

Team

Capleton

Macca Saps Trott Price

Gallagher Hunter Game Dormer

Armstrong Wareham

Subs

Oxby for Dormer

Cuz for Hunter

Not used: Kerrigan, Forbes, Elder

You boys looked every bit of a team flying high at the moment. Best performance I've seen from any side home or away this season, just a shame we didn't make more of a match of it from our five good chances.

Good luck in the remainder of the season, although it does look like the play offs now, so best of luck with those.

Yep, really was that easy indeed Simon - so much so that my little lad Nathan had an "illegal approach" made to him at half-time to join the Rebels on the basis that he was accompanied to the game by a suspiciously Slough-coloured amber and blue buggy and showed more co-ordination dancing and clapping to "Amarillo" in the queue for the tea-bar than the home side's starting eleven. Incidentally, he has yet to see Ricay lose in 5 away trips now, and we won the last 3 matches he's attended without conceeding a goal! Seriously though, a word of praise to the kind Slough folk who must be some of the friendliest we've met this season and can only come out of this game with credit for loudly applauding each of their three substitutions with the game well & truly lost and even clapping their team off at the end after a 6-0 home defeat!!!!!! And we couldn't manage that after collecting a point at home last week...

I think the expectation is the difference Neil. We expected to win last week, and if we had done, we would still be in with a shout. As for yesterday we were quality and in particular Armstrong and 'Gamo'. I thought Price played well and his distribution was as good as we've seen at left back all season. Gotta mention Wareham, the lad works tirelessly, gets in where it hurts, and was rewarded with a goal. Pitiful away support, but well done to the hardcore who did bother to pitch up.

A terrific win for you guys again, Yep that 'we expected to win' thing once again raises its ugly head. Its foolish to expect anything in this game apart expecting the players to earn their wages. football wouldn't be the same if it were that predictable.

A fine performance from us today, I thought the midfield quartet did particularly well and we looked more balanced with Gallagher playing. Well done to Paul for his goals and for Justin in keeping faith with him when others wouldn't have (JL whistles and sneaks away quietly).

We cant ask for more than that.

Come on youe blues

Match report now online. I resisted the temptation to get the cliche generator out for gems like "Four-some Armstrong" and "The joy of Six"

Well done to Jamie Dormer for being the 4th Billericay player to reach double figures for goals this season.

Well done to the lads. An enjoyable afternoon's work, eh?

I must say (apologies to jl here) but some of our supporters...well...one...said, when the team had been announced, that he didn't know where the goals were going to come from...did someone grass him up to the team before they went out to the pitch...

Well done to the lads, especially to Paul Armstrong, who's hard work and dedication to the team over the past couple of weeks has been rewarded...

Great performance from your lads. Played us off the park and could have scored more. We should have taken a couple of our better chances but we never really looked like troubling you. On that evidence I would not bother straining yourselves trying to catch Yeading because you will be a shoe-in for the play-offs. Particularly with home advantage.

Good luck for the rest of the season.
