Hi John. I think people are treading a little carefully after this weeks events.

A well earned point today by the sounds of it.

Still keeps us in with an outside chance. Commiserations to Dover and congrats' to the "RAMS".

think we need carshalton and maidenhead to lose the next 2, carshalton have camb city at home and eastbourne away so rather tricky, whilst maidenhead have got Grays at home and newport away on the final day - gonna be a nail biting finale - if we can get anything at havant!!

Well done Margate for getting a dramatic equaliser, gives you a chance of staying up now which would be a tremendous achievement given all your off-field problems. Hope you do it.

Ramsgate won the KL title today so some good news in Thanet!

Cookie- i agree with you that it is only respectful to be a bit subdued this week.

My interpretation of our league position is that we need Carlshalton to lose both games, and either Newport or Maidenhead to lose both of theirs(and they do play each other last game).

We also need to win both our remaining games.

Put like that its a daunting task with odds massiveley against us.

rest in peace- Paul Sykes

I stand corrected. Of course we neeed to win BOTH games. I was thinking that just 2 teams went down. Dunno what got me thinking that. Silly me.

Have adjusted my post above accordingly. Thanks MM.

Team today:

Trego

Keister

Barnett, Edwards, Smith, Green

Benvenides, Gradley, Clarke,

Stadhart, Baptiste

Sas came on for Green about 20 minutes in the second half, then Watson on for Benvenides with about 15 minutes left.

It was a pretty even match, end to end football, evenly matched, certainly I could not see why they should be 5th and us where we are in the table. We defended very well, went in at half time with a clean sheet.

Second half, we were the more attacking side, but frankly the game had 0-0 written all over it unless someone got very lucky, and then of course there was the standard goalmouth scramble and they got lucky, against the run of play I might add. But we kept heads up and carried on fighting, but it might have stayed that way, had a free kick not been awarded in our half. Keister was going to take it and then was waved up and Trego came forward. He looked up, saw their goalie off the line and hit a tremendous lob that coasted over the goalies head and into the net, sending us all in total disbelief delirious with joy. Was it an accident or lucky punt? I am not convinced, I think he meant it sure enough. We carried on pressing, but 1-1 it finished.

Everyone played with heart and soul today, and very well, so well done the lads. Trego easily man of the match, not for just the goal, but for the safe hands, sureness of command in the goal today, and heart-wrenching exodus from time to time to do a bit of kicking and passing. Greenie looked very sure and sharp, and added vital stability at the back plus an attacking hunger - my goodness we could have done with him for the whole season. But given the awful circumstances of the week, they were all heroes today.

And we're not beat yet, so bring it on for the last two games!

Full credit to the team for the performance and result after what has been a traumatic week. Doesn't look like we will be staying up now but if we can show the same sort of spirit and character in the face of tragedy and adversity and hold on to most of our players, with CK still at the helm next season could be an exciting one and no reason why we shouldn't have conference football again the following season. Look forward to meeting the Rams in the Bryco cup maybe? And AFC Wimbledon would be a great first game at Hartsdown.

The way to look at it is that you need to win your last two games no matter what as 4 points isn't enough.

So if you go for it and win those two games, you just need two of the three sides above you to fail to win either of theirs. And two of the teams play each other on the last day is that right?

That being the case, I would say your two wins would be enough 70-80% of the time. So you should just go out with a positive attitude and good things will happen. Best of luck anyway, sounds like you may have got the first one today, just think if your keeper hadn't scored you would have been without hope so things may already have turned round!
