God knows, they seem to play much better with 10 men. Very annoying. Started writing a message on the Chelmsford message board, by the time id written it it had changed from 1-0 to 2-1. Theres still time for Chelmsford to get back in it. A draw would still be a good result, that would leave us 6 behind with a game in hand. Cmon City!

Went to the Chelmsford game today. Chelmsford were the better team in the first half, scored after 3 minutes with a Lee Williams looping header ala Elder. They had a chance before that and created a couple more before the break. Then at the end of the first half there was a goal mouth scramble in the Chelmsford box and the ref blew for half time as the ball was bouncing around the 6 yard box, obviously Yeading weren't happy and the no 8 argued with the ref all the way off (incident at Blunts Wall Rd end) and just as he was about to walk off the ref blew his whistle and showed him a red card.

 

Second half, Yeading turned it into a physical game, with fast breaks and had a few chances to score before they did. Second was a bit contriversal in that the ball was rolling towards him and went down with his hands to pick it up but the no 9 for Yeading slid in and won the ball and got up to put the ball in the empty net, it was one of those that could of been a foul on the keeper or not depending on whether he had his hands on the ball. I didn't think he had control but who knows. After the goal it got even more physical with the Yeading no 11 almost rugby tackling the Chelmsford player which sparked off a 22 man + bench clearing 'handbag/brawl'. No 11 booked for the foul and a few players on both teams can feel lucky to be still on the pitch. No one jumped onto the pitch from the stands though. After that it got a bit chaotic with every time the ball went in the box, players were falling over each other, injuries etc, Ansell and Sodje went off injured, Cross picked up a knock and there man at the back who set up our equaliser was injured.

 

End of the day Chelmsford should of taken there chances in the first half, but then second half Yeading made it physical and Chelmsford couldn't handle it.

I dunno how we do it....but it seems every time we go down to 10 men we just step up another gear.

 

As for the thuggery comment above from Bill ......come off it mate 1-0 down and with only 10 men. You gotta take your hat off to us. We always show true fighting spirit and never give up.
