Why don't we play the PASE lads?

The season's over as far as GNFC are concerned so why not give the PASE lads some experience?

Luke Moore and Sam Groombridge were both on the bench last night and with the move to full-time football I'm sure they would benefit from the experience of a few games, especially as they may well get offered full-time contracts.

The PASE lads need the experience so they can play at Conference level and yet they can't get the experience unless they play. Its a Catch 22 situation yet with 3 virtually meaningless games against Stevenage, Exeter and at home to Burton the Fleet are never going to get a better opportunity to give them first team action. What do others think? Discuss . . .

Well, whether the Conference do or not, they should do, really. Only last week, Bishop's Stortford put out a weakened side for a league game against Newport County, thus possibly having an adverse effect on Margate's chances of staying up.

If we put out a weakened side then we will not be giving anyone a chance to experience first team football. If you play three or four youngsters then it isn't the first team, it is hard enough for a youngster to make an impression on his debut if the side they are playing in is outclassed then playing them would probably do more harm than good.

The only way to give these boys a chance and find out how well they cope is to play one of them alongside ten first team players.

A good idea to a certain extent, Jim. But if we gave a few of them a chance, it wouldn't really be fair on sides competing with Stevenage for the play-off places.

And in our first season up, whilst fighting against relegation, I recall the rivals around us benefitting from playing weakened teams fielded by the clubs that had already qualified for the play-offs. It wasn't fair then so I couldn't care less now.

last night i went to my local and was drinking with Sam and Luke who brought me a drink.
nice people and they should be given a chance starting today.
