'Iron's on Tour'

I've noticed one or two erroneous statements on this thread that would, perhaps, benefit from minor clarification.

George Borg was not successful in his application, nor was it rejected. No. The hearing was adjourned for seven weeks. After which time I imagine that it will reconvene.

If any club ceases during a season, their record is usually expunged and, contrary to an erroneous view in a recent High Court statement, one less club relegated from that particular division.

Always happy to help the erroneous or mischievous.

George Borg is winding up? Who? Where?

Would George (who is a lovely man...full of sunshine and wit ) do such a thing?

Hmmnnn.

Jolly helpful that someone took the trouble to check the implications of one club ceasing mid-season, hypothetically, of course, TC. I don't have the time to indulge in academic exercises of that nature myself.

[i have to say that "....contrary to a High Court statement.." is quite impressive. These judges. What do they know? I watch Judge John Deedes. It was probably that lush-looking one with the baggy eyes. He has it in for our hero.]

Anyway. I'm glad that's been cleared up. One wouldn't want any suggestion of a hidden agenda to rear its head.

TC, you said that George was unsuccessful. I'm not sure that is so. In footy language, I would have called it a draw.

I'm no expert on these things but my understanding is that the company were granted a seven week 'stay of execution' or moratorium to implement a CVA to finalise its arrangements with creditors.

A meeting of creditors was scheduled for April 28. I would imagine that if the proposed CVA is accepted by 75%+ of creditors, the winding up order would be withdrawn. If not, it's back to the High Court to reconsider the original adjourned petition.

Let's hope common sense prevails!

Hi UU.

I know that you are no more than a keen fan of The Urchins but, with the greatest possible respect, don't you think you should be a little more magnanimous?

There will be very few people indeed on these boards, if any, who have any experience of having signed one Company Voluntary Arrangement, let alone two. And broken the terms of both! How many people on here have taken a football club into suspension from the League and the brink of extinction? For the moment, he remains a Company Director and the Chairman of a Non League football club, although, in fairness, it is that club from North Essex. That's priceless, UU. You couldn't buy that level of knowledge.

Give it some thought UU. He appears to me to be offering the olive branch to you and The Urchins, distancing himself fully from the actions of one of his employees over whom he can have absolutely no control in any action being taken between that person and his former employer. He can have no axe to grind, of course. What possible ulterior motive could there be?. Seems reasonable to me. He's been very helpful on here with the rules relating to a club that ceases to exist. He probably gathered that knowledge while assisting Baldock Town FC with financial advice which attracted some publicity at the time. They ceased to exist shortly after, as I recall.

What is even funnier Thorns, is your reported response to "Oh, is that a flare in your pocket or are you pleased to see me" when questioned by the police

For "pseuydenoms", try "pseudonyms".

From the Greek. 'Pseudes':false + 'onoma': name.

Latin derivation rather than Greek, JR, as you probably know.

Easier in the singular perhaps, but the plural can cause some difficulty.

Anyway. Enough of that. Where were we? Is there a 1/200 Club at your place JR?

Changing the subject completely, perhaps you know a 100 or 200 club by another name JR. Let me explain.

You invite, say, 100 fans, which can include players etc., to contribute £1 each per month, usually by Standing Order, and each month a draw is held. 50% of the monthly income is returned to 3 lucky punters, say at £25 to the first out of the proverbial hat, £15 to the second and £10 to the third. The remaining income, is retained by the Club. Sometimes, say at Christmas, the payout could be doubled. Quite a useful moneyspinner, JR. That's the basic principle of a 100 Club. If the idea takes off and, say 200 persons partake, it can be known, surprisingly enough, as a 200 Club.

Quite popular in sports clubs etc.

Oh, by the way. If you are thinking of organising one of these things at your club JR, permit me to offer a friendly piece of advice. Make sure that the names of each of the participants are displayed on the club notice-board. Not only will that publicise the thing but it will prevent any scurrilous, totally unjustified, entirely unwarranted suggestion that the organiser is a dirty, lying, thieving, cheating, scum-bag piece of low-life if, by remarkable co-incidence, in three consecutive months, the monthly prize-winners are announced and no club member has ever heard of any of the people before.

Honesty is the best policy, JR.

Always pleased to assist. I'll waive my usual commission in the event that the idea is adopted at your place. Have that one for free.

Oh, by the way. have you any experience of grant applications to assist with ground improvements, JR?

I'm afraid the Chicks is very much a 'Closed Book' as far as the management is concerned.

The word Nepotism springs to mind !
