Now I'm just confussed. JC is the secret lovechild of kmj?

I'm not one to start rumours but I reckon Bernard might be sending his pocket money claims to kmj too.

And that concludes the Party Political Broadcast by FF on behalf of the Conservative Party.

Don't forget who privatised the rail industry and made it the joke that it is!

Expensive? To be fair, an annual season ticket from rochester to London costs about £50 per week (taking 4 weeks holiday into account).

Its something like 35-40 miles by road, one way, so a total mileage of c350 to 400 miles per week.

Given that running costs alone for a car are in the region of 15p per mile, even that makes the train look good, even without adding parking costs and the Congestion Charge.

In addition, children can travel for £1 each to London, including travelcard.

We might complain at the cost, but its not that bad in reality.

Finally, if we're complaining about cost, try the London Underground - not sure if its still the case but it used to be the most expensive transport in the world and was even more expensive than Concord !

I've got news for you pal. Before privatisation I used to travel from New Cross to Gravesend and was forever having the train I was on terminated at Dartford. It got so bad one evening during the winter that it became dangerous on the downside platforms with the number of trains terminating, passengers were almost shoulder to shoulder. I remember well the crunch came when they terminated the next train to Gravesend. The passengers rebelled and would not allow the train to leave by holding the doors open. In the end, the train was sent down the line to Gravesend and terminated there. Goodness knows what happened to the Medway commuters. So much for nationalization.

I'm voting Tory. Come you BLUES!

Well said Bill.

I find it amusing just how short people's memories are.

Pre-privatisation, I was still on the railways & actually had to deal with members of the public. I lost count of the number of times when a train was delayed or cancelled that you got joe public saying 'I can't wait until you lot get privatised'.

Well, they got their wish & yet now many of them are recalling the pre-privatisation days with fond memories???

Strikes me that an incredible amount of people are looking through rose coloured glasses at the last time we had a tory govt.

I remember it all vividly enough and the vast majority of it leaves me with a bad taste, and that smarmball Howard was as responsible as anyone for the mess they left.

The new place of worship being constructed in Gravesend is not a mosque ( in which adherents of Islam would congregate ). It is in fact a Sikh temple. Hopefully Michael Howard was aware of the difference.

Perhaps one day the authorities might check on how many illegals are being sheltered in there - and that info came from a member of their community!

A very good point - our argument was always that if you went into a toy shop & bought a Hornby set, you got the track train & station!

When I was a kid I got a Hornby train set and only got a train and track! No station! Bloody privatisation!
