And there goes another one ....

From the Cambridge City web site

Quote:
Jamie Eames has become the fourth City youth player to leave Milton Road for a professional club this season, having earned himself a scholarship at Norwich City.

Jamie, a right winger, has been a regular in the u16 side since signing from Colney Heath FC after Jez George spotted him playing for Herts u16s v Suffolk. He scored five goals in the Eastern Junior Alliance campaign, but, more significantly perhaps, two in a friendly against the Norwich Player Development Centre! He also made four appearances for the reserves including one start, against Lowestoft Town.

He has been offered and accepted a two year scholarship at Norwich following a three month period during which he has played against the likes of Ipswich Town, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Millwall for their u16s and u18s.

Once again there are mixed emotions for Academy Director Jez George who said, "To gain a scholarship as an under 16 player at a club of the stature of Norwich City is a remarkable achievement. Jamie has come a long way in a short space of time, having signed for us from Colney Heath only last October. Whilst we are disappointed that a player of Jamie's talent and natural ability will not be joining our Academy, everyone connected with Cambridge City is really pleased for him and we wish Jamie every success at Norwich City. We will follow his progress with interest and are proud that Cambridge City played a part in his development."

We hope that Jamie will be able to join Sam Parkinson, Anthony Daver and Jay Davies in being introduced to the crowd during halftime in the match against Hayes on Saturday as a well deserved send off from Milton Road.

This is the same Jamie Eames that played for City Youth until the end of last season. Left when it became clear that the City no longer had an interest in our set up........how many more for f**ks sake .....

Rob

No relation .... and yes he probably would have gone on to bigger and better things anyway but why should Cambridge get all the credit when he's played for St Albans for 5 seasons. We have other players of that age who we would consider just as good if not better. A lot depends on the "right place right time" theory.

Also haven't we seen 16 year olds making Premiership debuts (and scoring) just recently. If they are good enough they are old enough. The point is Rob, no one at this club has any idea about any single player we have registered.

Have another boy who has just signed for a year with the Watford Academy at under 12, a 13 year old goalkeeper who has interested Arsenal and many more through the age groups up to 18.

The point is Rob there is no link between the two clubs and players of this ability are drifting away from this club and all end up playing elsewhere.

No matter what is said this will never make sense to me.....
