The KCFA sadly report the death of Paul Sykes of Folkestone Invicta FC during the Senior Cup Semi-Final.

The President, Chairman, Chief Executive and members of the Kent County Football Association offer their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Paul Sykes, the Folkestone Invicta player who collapsed and died during the Kent Senior Cup Semi-Final on Tuesday evening, 12th April.

At the time of the tragedy Margate were leading 1-0. Folkestone Invicta have intimated that they would not wish to replay the match and have offered to concede to Margate. This gesture has been accepted.

The Final will take place on May Day Bank Holiday - 2nd May 2005. Dover Athletic -v- Margate. It will be played at Cheriton Road, Folkestone, kick off 3.00 p.m.. The game will be dedicated to the memory of Paul Sykes who was a Folkestone player and in the past has played for Dover Athletic and Margate. He was also part of the Kent Under 18 Youth Team which won the Home Counties in 1989. The clubs and KCFA have all agreed to waive their share of the gate and the net proceeds will, therefore be donated to Paul's young wife and daughter.

It is hoped that the community of Kent football will fully support this fixture.
