Burgers

Recommended Posts

In our first season in the ESL we did an informal survey of burgers throughout the league - it even got a mention in the Concord programme!

At the end of the season we had a vote, and as far as I recall Eton Manor won - they were sharing at Waltham Forest (as they are now) at the time. I think Basildon came second, I'll have to try to dig out the programme that gave the results. I can't remember who cam third.

Sawbo didn't do burgers at the time, and Southend Manor were disqualified for being so slow hardly anyone actually got served.

That was three years ago, how have things changed?

I thought the Barkingside burgers were a bit on the small side. Agree with Manor as the best, Bowers aint bad either in size and cost.worst ones ever was wivenhoe town, we ordered them 5 minutes before kick off and by the time we got them Bowers were two nil down in the essex senior cup 17 minutes gone and they were warm.

Once went to see Grimethorpe Colliery Welfare FC up in your neck of the woods and got lashings of mushy peas on a brilliant pie. If its Mutton pie and Bovril then any Scottish ground will come up trumps .. but be very wary of Bovril as it keeps its heat more then any other drink. If I remember rightly, Beryl dishes up Bovril at Hullbridge. Finally , arrived very late at a Barkingside game this season with no lunch in me and got a lovely burger and chips dished up from Jo in the outside catering establishment - open to all on Monday May 2nd - Cup Final Day ! Must go - time for dinner !

LC we had moved away from food and was dicussing young ladies. Do you have any good memories of attractive bar staff in the ESL or are you too scared to mention them coz Mrs LC reads these forums!!!!!
