A fitting tribute to Paul imo would be to suggest that it was through playing with him that Phil Collins achieved his full potential with us.When we gained promotion to the top tier of the Southern League, Phil was almost thrown in at the deep end, I will never forget some of the early season matches when Paul and Phil where just starting to hit it off together,when Phil scored a goal Paul was almost delirious with pleasure and excitement for him .The rest as the saying goes is history. For his infectious manner and enthusiasm Paul will never be equalled any thing less I believe is an understatement. God Bless Paul.

Having not seen Paul for a while I was actually watching him as they stood for the kick-off. I remember seeing him look up at the crowd and glance in many directions. Shows the feeling he had for being PART of a crowd. When with us he was always "one of the fans" as well as being a player. I recall tonight also of how I nearly reminded him of the love we had for him for his past efforts for us. I nearly waved my "gate" scarf at him and nearly yelled out"syko,syko" to show our appreciation from the margate fans. Alas I didnt go through with it and that will haunt me for a long time. That I didnt do just that when I intended to and that he went from us without that acclaim and thanks.Paul, you were and always will be a star. Just a shame you didnt get these accolades when you were still with us. If you are up there looking down Paul, then rest assured we will all miss your presence.

I remember 7 or 8 years ago me and a fellow margate fan went to watch Engalnd v France at wembley with our Margate shirts on we made a great big England flag with paul sykes for England across the middle we got many puzzled looks.
