A true Margate hero who had a marvellous connection with the fans. He was also a major factor in the start of our fantastic last few years.

RIP Psycho - you will live long in the memory

Very upsetting news tonight for Kent football, have seen Paul play before in the past for Margate and was only at the Dover v Folkestone game the other week when he played.

Very sad news!

At the carshalton game Griff wished this season over.I can see why. It has gone from bad to worse. Only at the cambridge game Ck said Syko was his favourite player. A great legend at HP. Inspiring affectionate humorous gritty and dedicated. Loved the club and WE LOVED him. I'm gutted. My condolencies to all his family and Folkestone town. MFC are stunned too. More tomorrow........

Devastating news. Was there at the game and couldn't believe how long he was left prone before receiving any attention. Surely a doctor is required to be at the ground or St John Ambulance personnel. If he had received immediate attention he might have pulled through. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I have fond memories of him revving the crowd up at Hartsdown and he always gave 100 per cent total commitment. A sad day for football and a great loss. R.I.P. Paul.

This is a sad day for kent football.

I only found out, when i was checking the herne bay - ramsgate score on the ramsgate website and it announced his death on their.

Still in shocked and disbelief, i check on here and dover forum and folkestone forum and every-one is talking about it.

The guy is still a young man, i haven't stop crying now in, I'm total shock. He was such a legend for margate, He had such passion for football and despite his injuries, he was a good semi pro.

My thoughts are with his family, and friends.

That's easy to say with hindsight, but less than helpful. At the time no-one grasped the seriousness of the situation, given that there had been no contact and the lad had just fallen over. We have all been to matches where this kind of thing has been the cause of some comments.

When it began to dawn on everyone that something was amiss you could hear a pin drop, and there was not a man, woman, or child in the place that was not apalled, horrified, and wishing with all their might that Paul would be OK.

Let's not lash out at each other, we are all stunned and shocked.

Hingsight doesn't apply, Paul was in the back of the ambulance on the pitch when some of the Margate fans were laughing and joking about it, or wondering if they could get their money back. Some bloke even started singing abide with me as a 'joke'. Within a couple of minutes it was blatantly obvious that something awful had happened.

Totally agree with your coments MF. I was with the majority of Margate fans and we were all most definately concerned. I think Folkestone Invicta will have a lot to answer to when these first few days pass by. Neglect for any first aiders,no stretcher for 20 minutes, and even then a makeshift one. No doctor on hand. Could have been the difference between life and death. To "sickened" above thats where, if any, you should be focussing your dissatisfaction with. It "sickened" me to see just how long he was allowed to lay on the pitch before proper medical attention got to him. Am sure there will be an inquest and that your club will be in deep deep trouble. As MF says lets not detract from the fact that we have lost a fine young man and for this moment we have to put that aside and mourn our loss. But later sparks will be flying I'm sure.

It is totally inappropriate for people to start pointing fingers at this stage. I assume there will be an inquest into Paul's death where such concerns will be addressed. This is not the time to be confrontational.

If this isn't pointing the finger, I don't know what is...

"It "sickened" me to see just how long he was allowed to lay on the pitch before proper medical attention got to him. Am sure there will be an inquest and that your club will be in deep deep trouble."

Let's just keep our counsel.

Fair enough but I for one am hurting like all the rest and I was there last night to witness this. "Sickened" comes on here having a go at our fans and deserved a reply. Although only a few hours later I am not only sad but extremely angry. Now go to the bottom of my post above and quote the last sentence too please.
