The point has often been made that Roy was looking for a contract at the end of last season, once he gets into the comfort zone of having a contract then his form will dip.

I reckon Liam will want to substantially rebuild the squad over the summer, clearly we are a good part-time side, but I do not see where going full time would improve several members of our team. Granted, players like Surey, Drury, Prothers Saunders, Pinns would benefit, but those in the "twilight" of their careers might find it one step too far, particularly if it means giving up a well paid career, such as Skins or Macca.

But as I've said before, we must make sure, unlike at the beginning of last season, that we actually have replacements for our forwards before they leave.

Roy has had some bad luck - for example, he was extremely unfortunate for his first half effort on Saturday to bounce up over the bar. However, the fact that he's only scored once since October means that there must be something wrong.

Agreed JC. I think Roy must be the unluckiest striker we have ever had. I have lost count of his goal attempts either brilliantly saved or that hit the woodwork.

Sadly, I still think his all round game is a little less than we require, given our lack of strikers.

Those we do have simply HAVE to score goals.

The sad fact is very few of our goals are actually scored by our recognised strikers.

Afraid I have to agree with Fleetbabe about Siggy on Saturday. I couldn't see why Roy was substituted and not Siggy.

 

Roy can't be that bad he's scored our second tonight.

 

If we only keep one of the two I'd rather it was Roy than Siggy

 

Just about to post and what does he do makes it 3 - nil

Ok I know that we were only playing Farnbrough but Roy looked a different player when he got into the swing of things.

I agree, I hope it's form that continues.. though I fear it's too little too late..!!

 

My concern is the fatigue our players will endure during this weeks fixtures... surely we cannot hope to get anything from our last 4 matches when they are so hideously close together... coupled with their regualr jobs AND training.... just hope they can hold on..!!?!

No Jimmy I wasn't there but I have been there a lot this season and I just don't think he has it. I could be wrong and if so I'll admit it, I'll even say it to the guys face and lets hope I am wrong but two goals against Farnborough isn't going to change my mind. But then saying that how many top profesional coach's have told players they can't do it when the player later comes back to haunt them? Morientes springs to mind......
