if we get promoted next season what sort of teams will we be playing?

i mean the clubs we go to are always boring and in the middle of no where, think we should organise an away game against.. a team in spain or california or somewhere!!

on serious note, what sort of teams will be playing!

Junior, IF we win the ESL, IF we win our playoffs (IF any), then we would probably be promoted to the Southern League, Eastern division.
Below is a copy of the current table for that league ("borrowed" from Tony Kemster's site) so if you allow for their promotions/relegations this would be a fairly good indication of what teams we could be playing next season.

Southern Division One Eastern

Pos Team
1 Fisher Athletic
2 East Thurrock United
3 Maldon Town
4 Uxbridge
S Barking & East Ham United
S Wivenhoe Town
S Barton Rovers
S Boreham Wood
S Waltham Forest
S Leighton Town
S Wingate & Finchley
S Chatham Town
S Arlesey Town
S Beaconsfield SYCOB
S Aveley
S Harlow Town
S Dartford
S Berkhamsted Town
19 Sittingbourne
20 Erith & Belvedere
21 Great Wakering Rovers
22 Tilbury

Pinnacle, are you doing this on purpose, trying to put the mockers on it for us? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> We are very conscious of chickens and eggs! We have four more games to go yet, three of them away, and either Burnham or yourselves could still clinch it.

But you are dead right about the lunacy of the play-off system. It will be so unfair on any club denied promotion through losing a play-off - the whole season could turn on a dodgy pen decision. OK, in general right up to Div 1/Prem there are various play-off systems, like 'em or hate 'em (I hate 'em) but in all cases the champions at least go up automatically. This step 5-4 system is madness, only the FA could have dreamed it up.

I have ranted about this before, but it would have been much fairer and more logicalto promote ALL eligible champions and make the bottom clubs at step 4 play off if necessary to avoid relegation. Success should be rewarded, not failure go unpunished.

Still, there it is and we have to get on with it.

There are two teams on the pitch.

11 against 11.

The games not won until the final whistle.

Who would have put money on Yeovil beating Arsenal, Colchester beating Leeds Wimbledon beating Liverpool or Enfield beating Chesterfield.

Of course Apsa can turn us over and it will be no disgrace it will only make it that bit harder to win the title.

In a league title race every game is played as a cup final and the championship only goes to worthy winners not "Champions Elect" or the team in current form.

any news on the play offs yet?

i think the league is pretty much yours now unless you do anything stupid! i still think it is a total joke that you can win the league, lose your play off game and not be promoted!

i suppose its worth another try! ha ha.

seriously tho i think it will be tight now. i think that if you go to burnham for a draw they will beat you.

THe league is in our hands now but our run in is a bit tougher than Burnham's. We have to go out and try to beat them. We are never good when we sit back. I totally agree about the play off system. All step 5 champions should go up as long as their ground is OK. By the way, that includes AFC Sudbury. They are holding up the progress of other Rigeons League clubs. They should be forced to go up.

Congratulations on winning the league. It will be interesting to see if the playoff's happen, I hope not. I know Potters Bar are also looking at the Southern League and have their ground check on 30th April. Have you had your ground cleared already?
