Craig Wilkins

Recommended Posts

There have been various threads in the last couple of days

regarding lack of goals from the forwards, Che's attitude,

and Liam's inexperience. I think Craig could be the answer to

all of these and more. Apart from Francis Duku, I think Wilkins

has been missed more than anybody else. He does so much

more than just score goals (although 20 last season wasn't bad).

His distribution can be great, he holds the ball well, and his

runs off the ball create space for others (Che) to exploit.

Also Craig must be the person to turn Tostao's crosses into

goals. Andy used Liam from the bench last season and

I think he needs to do that again. With Wilkins in the starting

line-up, Liam go back to being super sub for a while.

Then again, if Andy announces a new striker ?????

U cant surely drop Liam to the bench and keep Boothy in the side. Hatch is a handful for any defence the same cant be said of Boothy. Im sorry i should be more supportive of Boothy but he always looks like a magical performer in pre-season every year yet come to the league campaign he loses all confidence and would rather pass it to a team mate than try and score with an open goal beckoning. We should go with the big blokes up front and get Tostao and Jimmy whipping those balls in from either flank. We have quality midfielders who can play the killer pass if need be and Hatch is not a donkey who is short on pace either..

Boothy? I wouldn't play him either Matt. With us averageing one injured full back per match, Jimmy may have to play in the back four on Saturday. If that happened, I'd play Bentley,Strouts and McKimm in midfield, Wilkins and Stadhart up front, and tell Tostao to hurt them anywhere he likes

I agree, Wilko, assuming he's fit, definitely deserves a go in the side, particularly with the looming suspension of Liam. However, Matt (GNFC) shouldn't write off Boothy just yet. After all, he is the only striker to have actually scored a goal for us so far (albeit a penalty), and even if there isn't room for him up front, he could always play a wing role if needed, as he did so well in the back end of games when he came on for Smudger last season.

That said, I would nonetheless have Wilko (fitness pending) and Che up front during Liam's suspension, with Boothy ready and waiting on the bench.
