FUND RAISING IDEAS

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...

just a quick note to suggest that if we do indeed need something of a contingency plan to provide cash, perhaps we should start off the process by listing ideas for fundraising?

feel free to put anything, I'm sure no suggestion would be too small or too large if we get our heads together on this.

perhaps a supporters vs Slough Football Club match is the way to go? sponsoring players or paying to watch?

or perhaps a team of fans doing keepy uppy one after noon in the Observatory?

indeed Andrew... didn't realise it was that simple in effect... £62.50 each isn't that much to raise really is it?

i still think the bes course of action is to somehow involve the outside public i.e. those not already slough fans via some sort of sponsorship or bucket waiving in town...just need a decent idea now

Well Charlie, that could be a pledge - to raise £50 in a bucket in the Town centre.

Unfortunately the maths means that we Slough Fans all need to raise something, and my suggestion was that if people are free to decide how they can do it themselves, then they can involve non Slough Fans in that. It is just that if we all got a fiver off 10 people we know, earned or donated, the money is largely there and I suspect that whilst not easy, there is more chance of that than 5000 people putting a fiver in a bucket, however persuasively it was rattled!

When I was manager of a restaurant that has been happily knocked to the ground we used to do an annual thing called Waiters on ice where the players from Slough Jets used to come over and wait on tables, serve on the bar and work in the kitchen and then there was all sorts of things going on, players auctioning off their signed shirts from their backs, pics with your favourite player, raffles etc, face painting. It used to be very entertaining and raised lots of money...just an idea...I am not sure i can offer my current restaurant as a potential venue, but as I say just an idea!

true i see what you're saying... its a bit difficult for me as i'm not here much and where i am at uni its rather difficult to get students to plump up money for a team they know nothing about.. still, am going to see what i can do via the walkers.. what with the money being split with the local domestic violence help centre i can wangle a few pounds out of my fellow soap dodgers i'm sure.

with regard to bucket shaking on me loansome for my pledge i'd love to do that on in town but would need some kind of stall or table and am not sure of the way to do that legally...any ideas?

thats what i meant by "legally"...

Good Heavens, Charlie, what else could you mean by legally?

Yes, you would need a permit, and I am sure you would not be doing it on your own...........

What I said was a suggestion, but I think we needed to put the £25k in context as put like that it looks totally unachievable, but broken down, it looks much more feasible. As others have said we may not need to raise it all, but cash in the bank for the Trust would be great. And if people put their minds to raising £50, who knows what we could achieve? I know it is daunting, but I think broken down like that it looks a lot more achievable. I would not expect to find students who could afford a fiver, but anything helps....... even 50p is only 100 students! I'll find out about street collections!

Come on guys, it is only our next season we're talking about here - let's go for it!
