Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Hard as it is to stomach, I'd obviously like a Woolwich/United FA Cup Final to open up that seventh Euro spot in the league.

Thing is, the Arsenal game kicks off first, and although I'll be kinda hoping they win, I've got this feeling that Newcastle will beat United in the other semi, and if that happens, I'll never be able to forgive myself for cheering on the Goons in the first game.

It's a dilemma.

Might just not watch either. The important game next weekend is, of course, the trip up to Anfield!

Shame we couldn't go, Gertcha.

Well, when United played Burnley a couple of seasons ago (either FA or Carling Cup), my brother - die-hard Blackburn fan - wanted to sit with the burnley fans and wear a T-Shirt that said "Dingle for a day, Rovers for Life". That's how much he hates Man United.

Europe's not all that it's cracked up to be anyway. Come on you Rovers!!! It's the second time I'll have been to Cardiff, and if it's the same result as last time (2-1 against some London based team - forget who it was now ), I'll be very happy.

I reckon we should try and do Liverpool away next season, as Anfield is a great place to visit, and I don't expect them to be playing there much longer.

I can't see Newcastle beating Man United to be honest, but you never know. Man United have been poor in their last couple of games, but Newcastle weren't much yesterday.

I think that Blackburn might be able to do Arsenal though. I might have a bet on that actually.

Zag - think I know which final you're referring to! Of the fourteen (I think) domestic finals we've reached, it's only one of three that we've lost! Shame our semi-final record isn't so impressive.

Just out of interest, and I actually don't know the correct answer to this, are Spurs the last team to score five against Chelsea? (League Cup semi of that same season).

Gertcha - would be lovely if Blackburn could turn over Arsenal, but a) I really can't see it, and B) this is our best chance of Europe in years (though it'll obviously not happen for us, even if 10th place was opened up!), so I'm going to have to hope Arsenal get through.

Ideal scenario...

Man Utd beat Arsenal in Cup Final.

Man Utd beat Arsenal to second spot in the league.

Spurs finish seventh.

Arsenal bomb out of Europe in Champions League qualifiers!

Zag - I don't remember your 2002/03 Euro campaign, but I do remember your Champions League season in 1995/96. Very disappointing after a great season before in the League. Was it Helsingberg who put you out??

Where did Blackburn finish in 95/96?

Lots of questions there - I want them all answered, particularly the Chelsea one.

We finished 7th the season after we won the league, then 14th, then 6th then relagated

We've alway wasted our chances in Europe. Before Bowyer and Dyer were at it, we had Batty and Le Saux fighting on the pitch. We've actually been in the UEFA Cup twice since we've been promoted. The first time was for winning the then Worthington Cup, and we got knocked out by Celtic in the second round. The second time was when we finished sixth (after a terrific 4-0 win at White Hart Line ). This time we got knocked out in the first round - brilliant!

The game this Saturday kicks off at 12.15, which is a strange time. For the benefit of TV more than the actual fans. We haven't sold out our allocation, and I don't think Arsenal have either. I have got good vibes about the day though.

Typical Spurs fan, three of the four things involve Arsenal...
