If it's the insurance for Football League or Premiership players, I think it just says you can't play in the League or Premiership again. Perhaps it says you can't be full time either. I'm pretty sure it doesn't say you have to become an amateur. Otherwise how would players who get crocked out of the full time game ever get non-League contracts? I think you'll find being a paid player outside the league is OK because most non-League clubs aren't going to pay anywhere near what a player could get in the League or Premiership. Non-League clubs don't get the same financial rewards, for a start, so they're less likely to be able to afford to.
