Saturday came..............and went, and we actually played well I thought, perhaps my message got through, Read or whatever (apart from the opening seconds that was, when I thought that was it all over again).

 

So Monday, had a little drive down to the inform Basingstoke, who apparantly according to their fans are playing with a Reserve side give or take one or to players.

 

Knowing that on form it would be a tough match, but thinking the Canvey steam roller was back on line - expected a good game.

 

Well what a disapointment, some reasonable and some good performances again, JK, Greggors (N), Boylan, Duffy, Potter, Forbes (Excellent) and Minton.

 

But please tell me - When will Mickey Bennett have a consistent run of games. Saturday he was ok - Monday absolutely awful. I know hes a nice bloke and all that but and he looks a lot fitter this season than last but you have to ask the question ?

As for Mr Protheroe - well - how many times can you give the ball away to the other team and get away with it. Thank the lord that Duffers replaced him, albeit about 45 minutes to late !

 

I dont expect to win every game - no one does - but at this rate we will be lucky not to finish in the bottom 4.

I agree totally. I didn't have the missfortune to see the game yesterday but I thought the team were finally begining to gel on Saturdays performance.

 

On Saturday I was standing near the Dugouts for the first half and Jeff Minton Lost the ball and gave it up. The Bloke infront of me shouted "Don't give up when your playing for us" directly at him. He in turn put in a good performance for the rest of the game. Maybe we should video players like JK, Chenners & especialy Scotty Forbes (who I thought was outstanding & worked his guts out Saturday), and show it to some of the freeloaders that play along side them. Show them what the team is about.

 

I don't care if we lose, as long as we've worked hard.
