0-0 vs Worthing

Recommended Posts

Not much to say at this stage, [****!!****] game, [****!!****] result, and Yeading got a last minute winner quite typically.

We didnt play well. Had a few chances early on, including a Forbes one on one which he fluffed completely. How Nathans lob didnt go in i well never now, but it bounced down off the croosbar and out. Worthing offered nothing attacking wise, but neither did we for large portions of the game. Had 0-0 written all over it.

fellas? Yeading went down to 10 men when it was 0-0 then banged in 2 goals in the last few minutes.

A great win considering we only had 10 men.

If there was a table showing results after 85 minutes of a game, i bet you wouldnt be top. Having said that, games are played over 90 minutes, and i guess it probably shows your character or determination or something. Anyway, it gives us something to be bitter about.

I thought we did quite well in the first half, all of the play was in Worthing's half of the field and we really should have gone in ahead, my mate Forbesy missing the best opportunity. Their keeper has also made a couple of good saves. The defining moment was early in the second half when Nathan did everything right, but his lob hit the bar and came out. We seemed to lose our way a bit after that and with Worthing offering absolutely nothing until we went three at the back for the last 10 it always had a 0-0 look to it. We were the better side but unfortunately our winning home form has deserted us when we needed it most. Mind you nothing's changed. We still have to try and win all of our games whilst hoping Yeading have a rather unlikley looking series of catastrophes....Can't help but get the feeling that a Ricay vs Boretree clash will be the inevitable conclusion....

Capleton

Macca Pat Trott Kerrigan (Wareham)

Game (Oxby) Hunter Forbes Cousins

Armstrong Elder

snu: Price, Sterling, Gallagher (what's he done wrong?)

I have to say that was so, so, so dissapointing but we were still the better team and Worthing clearly came here with one plan and it worked fair play to them although it was bloody boring to watch we must learn how to play against ALL styles etc. Still cant believe that naths lob bounced out anyways onwards and upwards to the conf south via play offs (I hope). At least the islanders are now 3 points off the drop haha. I think this just about sums up the game when I said who bloody wants it response from behind me was no of them which is so true of yesterdays performance by some of the players one in partiucular I am sure I dont have to mention any names here

A bit harsh cr. Of course the players wanted to win, they want it as much as you, make no mistake.

We all want to win every game, but it doesn’t work like that.

As Gazz pointed out, the fans also had an off day, but I know they ALL wanted the win.

I remain positive, our team is far better than they were 6 months ago, and current form (Six Games) shows we are the best!

Sounds like a frustrating afternoon. At present, and probably for the first time this season, our away form is better than our home form. Suggest this is because teams have been visiting New Lodge with the sole aim of frustrating us with lots of men behind the ball. 16 games unbeaten at home though is pretty useful....

This game should have been wrapped up in the first half. Their keeper pulled off some decent saves. They were a very big team and at times we played in a way that suited them by knocking it high into the wind.

One thing that was missing on sat was any width. Im sure Oxby is a good prospect but unless he inst fully fit why inst Kieran getting on? Matt Game has been spuerb but kieran's delivery from crosses was superb and with nathans ability in the air this is a strength that personally i think we are wasting. Oxby has been pretty ineffective when he has come on so far. Cuz on the other side does a good job but he is better suited up front.

I think the lads did ok. They never lost. To say they were not up for it is rubbish. You dont get to the position they have put themselves in only to not be up for it. You cant win them all.

Justins idea to go with 3 at the back and 3 up for the last ten was good in theory but if anything we defended more in the last ten minutes that in the rest of the game and Mel pulled off a superb save which everyone seems to have forgotten. I hope Mel plays for us next season.

I cant believe the Sun said the attendence was +500. I looked less that that, and the crowd was very very quiet.

I can't see what all the fuss is...Okay, Yeading have only to get eight more points (is that the figure?) but if we keep on doing what we do and do it well, we'll secure 2nd place and lets face it..Eastleigh are not really up to our standard and Boretree hate coming to New Lodge...I'm not saying it is all done and dusted but we're in it and in a great position. The team have done us proud this season and to give up now smacks of defeatism...This season isn't over until the last kick of the ball...

Lets put this feeling away...we're the best club in this league and we're still looking good!!! Three weeks ago, we were thinking that the play off's would be a great result and the club were confident that we'll do well...what has changed?

We're still on the march and anything can happen...still!!!

All I can say was the performance was flat...but so was the crowd. We all have got to get going for the rest of the games remaining.
Like a few others here I think we are getting a bit over-dissappointed simply because we didn't win on a day Yeading did and slipped further behind in the title-race. But it's still def possible, and if not, well, there's the "excitement" of the play-offs. It's not over till the fat lady sings and I can't even see Michelle McManus from here let alone hear her warming up !! As for the support, I can understand there being not much singing, being as it was so tense a game, but frankly I thought it was an insult to the efforts the players have put in lately that we didn't even manage a polite round of applause at the end to say "hard luck, thanks for trying anyway". If we'd drawn 0-0 away, I bet there would have been the usual two minute ovation. COME ON - LET'S BE HAVING YOU!!!
