I arrived just after they scored their second goal - and they only had 2 efforts on goal thereafter - nothing in the first half, and only the header that Wilko turned over and the one that Bunce gifted their guy, only for him to pass it back to Wilko!

To be fair, there was a neat shot on the turn from Twiss in the second half that Wilko saved comfortably. But you're right, they didn't create all that much. On balance of play over the whole game a draw probably would have been fairer, but not putting our chances away is becoming a familiar story. That said, Roy was very unlucky with his first half effort that bounced up onto the roof of the net.

I quite agree - particularly in Deane's case. He's been on the bench a few times, so it seems a little strange he hasn't played a single minute for us yet.

Er, I don't think Gary was disputing the notion of sportsmanship; rather, the fact the man shouted 'come on you yellows!'.

Proth's took his goal well and if we insist on playing long balls then Proth's and Skin's can at least play them accurately.

However Proth's was caught out badly for their first goal and caught again almost identically a couple of minutes later when they should have got a second.

That said we look a lot better balanced with Proth's at right back, I just wish he would play the ball short more often particularly down the right. Drury with the ball at his feet is our best weapon....Drury watching the ball sail over his head to bounce off Siggy is no better than I am at watching the ball bounce off Siggy. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Shoot me down for saying it but at the moment i find it incredibly boring to go down to Stonebridge Road and watch my beloved Fleet. A solid supporter for 19yrs i still dont think ive come to terms with the loss to Bishops Stortford which was a pathetic capitulation. Anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?

It's probably the first really dull end to a season for quite some time, though. 1999-2000 and 2000-01 we at least had Full Members and KSC Cup Finals to look forward to. 2001-02 of course we won the league, 2002-03 we left it till late to escape relegation, and last season we had that fantastic run where we just couldn't lose. This is probably the most tiresome GNFC have been for seven or so years... maybe we're just not used to the ordinary!

you are not alone, our season finished that night... For the first time for years , I am willing the season to finish as quick as possible.

Yesterdays game sums it up, they came out like a team with something to play for, we didn't. Even tho' we got back into the game, there was a lack of any real excitement or atmoshpere

The atmosphere is not helped by the closure of the Northfleet terrace...that really screws it up ! Some ( and the drum ) go in the

side terrace, others go at the Swanscombe end when we are kicking that way, and then round to the paddock terrace next to the main stand in the second half....so it XXXXs up the situation big time.

I wonder what it's like for the players ? having to try and score at an end where there is no one there ? having been used to quite a sizeable crowd at that end going mad when a goal was scored....

Why it was decided that the terrace was in a far worse state in the latter part of the season than it was at the begining still baffles me !!

It's a factor......!!!

Cheers,

Agree with the above - atmosphere is shocking i am a little gulity at moving away from the drum recently just purely because being 6'3" at the back of the stand i can see bugger all!!! The roof has the advertising which 'hangs very low'!!

But im sure the beginning of next season will improve back behind the goal and get the crowd singing again!!

The atmos has been dormant recently but will hopefully errupt soon!!

I also found it baffling that Siggy played most of the first half wide right, and Drury hardly got a look in. What was all that about?

I don't know about anyone else, but I find Sigere startlingly poor. He has failed to please me so far, mainly through his lack of goals but also through the excrucitaing knock-downs that always go to the opposition. Maybe I'm being slightly harsh and I need to give him time to find his feet, like Alan Shearer at the start of his England career, but I'd like to see him up the ante for the last five games of this season.

yes i agree. Siggy hasn't been doing as well as expected. He was good on his first game, but then after that he turned pretty average. He is not very good at winning the ball in the air, and he never seems to be in the right position when there is a cross from Drury or Essandoh.

The end

I think Siggy's positional play and running off the ball have been excellent, unfortunately the ball seems to bounce off him rather than stick and he certainly doesn't look like the goal scorer we have been looking for.

When fit still prefer the Manny/Roy combo but I would like to see Drury tried up front as long as the ball was played to him on the ground, and I agree with whoever posted earlier that Luke Moore should be given a chance, even if only for the last 15 minutes of a few games, while we have nothing to lose.

Sorry, Bill, but I stick with what I said about actually supporting the opposition. How does it make the Fleet players feel when our own supporters shout "Come on you Yellows, the Reds are rubbish!!"

If I was a steward I would have thrown the stupid old buffoon to the Swanscombe End.

This old buffer ALWAYS bemoans and belittles the Fleet, and Always cheers for the opposition, and seems to take some peverse pleasure in watching us lose.

As for being unsporting, read my postings, Bill.

I always applaud good play by either side, especially 30 yards goals against us, such as by Bishops, and by Lee Boylan recently. Pure class, credit where credit is due.

If this senile old fool carries on spewing out his bile like he does, one day some 15 year old Fleet supporting chav may not be as tolerant as I am, and will want to "sort him out".

I for one wouldn't blame him.

If he really hates Fleet so much, and likes us losing so much, why doesn't he support Dartford?

Thought that the team played better in the second half. Worst player on the park was Siggy, he just didn't have the ball control I would expect him to have. I don't understand why daish took Roy off rather than siggy.

The Beckhamesque free kick was spectacular, well taken by proths. We were unlucky to lose Skins so early on as well.

Drury played well down the wing, tried one to many once or twice, but got a couple of good shots away, and put in some good crosses. Only other downer to his performance was the free kick he gave away for the second goal.

They made a meal of their fouls I thought. Macca didn't deserve his booking, and as for Curtis claiming Proths kicked him, yes the foot was high, but there didn't seem to be any contact.
