vs Morecambe

Thought Morecambe were the better team in the 1st half, took their chances and very organised. But their 1st goal looked like a definite handball to me. Great free-kick by Proths. In the second half I thought we dominated and really should have turned possesion into goals. But yet again our forward line proved to be rubbish. Why is it that our strikers always seem to get the ball on the edge of the box with their backs to the goal and then can't do anything with it? Turn and find some space to shoot ffs!

 

The switch to 4-3-3 didn't work for me but fair play to Liam for experimenting. I would of kept Roy on rather than Siggy though who's really struggling to convert chances at the moment. Morecambe didn't look as good as a lot of the other playoff challenging teams I've seen this season and very much doubt they'll go up.

Yeh Matty was p'd off. Agree that he shouldn't of gone off but still, professionalism and all that.

I thought Jay played okay, their Midfield didn't exactly out play him.

I arrived just after they scored their second goal - and they only had 2 efforts on goal thereafter - nothing in the first half, and only the header that Wilko turned over and the one that Bunce gifted their guy, only for him to pass it back to Wilko!

 

Only other half chances for them were the penalty shout - our guy got the ball, though & the player didnt complain - and the claim for handball outside his area against Wilko - again their player involved didnt complain, so dont think it was.

 

Unfortunate at the end with Pinno's drive just turned away by the keeper, Siggy's header cleared off the line & Bunce's deflected header hitting the underside of the bar.

 

With what seemed most of the possession second half, we didnt "hurt them" enough though (and strangely BBC Stats suggest possession was 50/50 overall).

 

Like you, Robbo, I wasnt too impressed with them although they were able to sit on their lead, I guess.

 

The ref made some srange calls - quite how the keeper wasnt booked for timewasting, I dont know. Equally, the guy who dumped Pinno on his backside in the midst of a flowing move was extremely lucky that the ref didnt book him (or even speak to him) after the ball went dead - compared to the bookings for Ports & Macca, it was a far worse challenge & deserved yellow.

I agree that Saunders wasnt at his best today -I actually felt Bunce was just about our best player, other than the mess he made of that one in the second half. Generally very solid at the back.

The moaning today was rather incredible. The bloke who got the finger salute from Drury in the cup game was moaning about him quite a bit, along with these three other blokes. The youngest of which just kept swearing and calling our players sh*t one minute, then applauding them the next.

 

I think the half-way people were a bit unfair to Wilko aswell.

All that group near the tea hut could do in the second half was complain it was no change from Fordy, or that it was worse than with Fordy.

 

Absolutely unbelievable when we werent playing that badly - just lacking the goalscorer again. If you're in that group & read this (I somehow doubt it), do us all a favour if you are that fed up with it, and clear off - go and watch Dartford or Chatham or Sittingbourne (to name but 3 - no offence intended to supporters of those clubs) instead & perhaps you'll then realise how much worse off we could be.

Erm one of them (wore blue) was standing in the yellow area and the female steward told him to move and he waved back to her and got a bit cocky. If that rings any bells...

 

Another kept saying "we're not going to score again, are we?" from about the 50th minute onwards. lol and he also said "Well he (Essandoh) ain;t going to score, is he? He hasn't scored for 6 months." erm it's closer to 2 months, sir. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

 

Not that I had a big problem with them last two. Just the other one...his abuse was quite unfair.
