No not the musical variety or the type worn on wrists but unfortunately some one who’s in the know legally about banning orders.

Quick enquiry. Two friends of mine are banned from all football matches in England and Wales (obviously it goes without saying that they’re innocent), does that also include non-league matches? I’ve told him that it only includes league games and that now as he’s at a bit of a loose end at what to do on a Saturday they could come to Stonebridge Road to watch the Fleet with us – more the merrier and all that, and he’d be doing he’s bit for his local club.

Does anyone know officially if this is correct? They reckons that they’re banned from entering a mile radius of their club on match days and that they have to surrender their passport when his team are playing in Europe (fat chance) or England are playing, and that it may apply to all levels of football.

Does anyone actually know? One of them suggested ringing up and asking but then I pointed up that if he does that and the law states he’s not allowed to attend Fleet games then they will have blown any chances they may have had of going unnoticed.

In fairness whilst admittedly the stewards wouldn’t have a clue, I thought I’d find out the legal implications and it’s down to him then not me.

For some matches the police can issues section sixties, which mean they have applied for permission to stop and search anyone they want. Whilst it’s unlikely that it may happen I have heard of Fleet supporters being checked in the past.
