Realistic expectations

Believe me anon, I would welcome such a move to WP as a short term deal. However, I believe it is a non-starter because of Byron's attitude to the club in the past which suggests he clearly wants nothing to do with it. Why Roy didn't respond to the paper I don't know, though it is safe to say with two midweek games this week and trying to get the Folkestone game and perhaps talking to Ryman league about the cup final, he's had a busy week. Deaner is difficult to get hold of at the best of times so for him not to respond to somebody is no real surprise

also, everyone seems to be forgetting that Wexham Park doesn't meet Conference South standards at the moment let alone Conference National, and we all know how stubborn South Bucks can be when it comes to giving planning permission

Very true Liam, though the article spoke of a short term deal. I don't see us being in a position to go up to the Conference South in the short terms and so that would not be an issue.

People will always remember the Conference days and trips to Reading, Birmingham and Cardiff but in the time I was living in Slough I think the season I look back on most fondly was the season we came back up from the Premier! It's difficult for me to comment on the situation of the club because the Windsor game a couple of weeks ago was my first of the season due to me living in Liverpool these days, and I admit it was strange watching Slough at Windsor (although it's easy to forget it is a beautiful ground)and playing at the lowest level I'd ever seen them. However, I thought some of the football we played was fantastic and the support and warmth from the Slough faithfull was genuinely moving to me. It was great to see some old faces and meet some new ones. The measure of a successful club should not always be measured by what happens on the pitch or how much money is in the bank. What the Slough fans have been through is truly shocking and I find things like the trust and the brilliant and informative web site the real measure of Slough Town being a success. It seems to me that if all this can be achieved in the face of such adversity then the future for Slough could and should be continued achievement.

I'm with you there Jamie - i think our support is, apart from a few moaners - second to none, especially seeing all the crap the club and its supporters have had to put up with over the past few years.

I've just spent the afternoon watching Rochdale, and despite being one of the most unsuccesfully league clubs with gates of under three thousand, are a really well run community club. Kids for a quid, great facilities, friendly atmosphere...

they are a million miles away from us at the moment. It's something to aim for, but in the meantime let's start raising cash for the Trust...
