Was the performance of Lew Watts who I thought was outstanding today.

I must confess I wasn't sure that he was going to be one on Andy's better signings, but a couple more performances like this and I will be more than happy to admit I was wrong.

You're right Dave - Lew Watts was a colossus at the back, and was my MOTM too. Although I obviously don't know how bad Aaron's injury is yet, if it is serious at least Lew proved today that we are in excellent hands in terms of cover. In addition, while Paul Wilkerson's kicking was at times erratic, he more than made up for it with four excellent saves.

The referee was, of course, terrible, and while Liam shouldn't have mouthed off like that for his red card (if that is why he was sent off) and needs to show more restraint, that doesn't alter the fact that Mr. Harris missed a blatant push on him in the build-up to the dismissal - one of many diabolical decisions.

As for Stevenage, some of their fans have shown the true definition of hypocrisy on this board. While we admittedly had an off day and missed a couple of key chances (e.g. the shot over by Macca, who has looked nowhere near his best since his return from injury, and Bentley's header over from close range), resorting to the long ball tactic too often, Stevenage were exactly the same. While they were good at closing people down, their attacking play was just as disappointing as ours - and surprise, surprise, just because they are hoofing the ball up to a striker with a classy-sounding name (i.e. Sigere), their 'style' of football is considered cultured.

It's been frustrating this season so far, because we keep saying that we are playing well enough to stay out of trouble, but if we keep missing chances, getting unfortunate injuries and having incompetent referees officiate our matches, we could well be dragged into danger. We need Wilko back as soon as possible, for his finishing and heading will bring goals to the team, I am sure of it.

Unlucky lads - good luck for Saturday!
