hear hear! Eddie and the whole team have done themselves proud... a few clouds should not get in the way of a brilliant silver lining

maybe its all my own fault for being brought up on far better slough teams, so i probably get disgruntled when current fans seem to cling to the odd good result, rather than see the whole picture.as you are a female, you're excused haha!!

I know you're only here to wind us up Optimistic, but regarding your point about being brought up on far better Slough teams and seeing the 'whole picture' - how much progress up the non-league pyramid can the players and management team actually make without a home ground? Not much.

Not here to wind you up at all-just taken the blinkers off, that's all.

That makes me so mad!

I'm a supporter from the 60's and yes, we did have some good, even great, players, and good teams under Bob Gibbs, Tommy Lawrence et al

BUT

We've got a good team under Eddie, and have had a great season this year.

And I'm still screaming myself hoarse for the team everytime I can get there - even though it's now a 200 mile round trip instead of 200 yards!

Once a Rebel, always a Rebel - through thick and thin

Optimistic.

talking about desire of the players when you see Wilko going in for every tackle as if his life depends on it, Smurf giving his all and swearing when things don't go right thats frustration, Hodgie playing out of position but still giving his all for the team Saulsbury who has played in every game and has played very well and Eddie and Micky constantly bellowing out instructions with non stop encouragement these are just a few points I don't think you have noticed.

Not like Dave Russell and Steve Browne who always leaned on the bench with nothing to say to lift there teams.

You're doing fine, guys. Don't panic and don't worry. Each season's a learning process. For us (Salisbury City) this year, the Ryman Premier was a big shock, but you live, learn, and adapt.

If you win the Bryco Cup, (which you deserve!) it will prove to be a great season for you.

I think we've said it before, but IF you end up in the Southern League, many of us will have money on you guys sailing through it into the Conf. South.

Ironically that could end up being your VIP ticket to the highlife!

"Mid table in a higher league....."

But its NOT a higher league! Its the same LEVEL as the old Div 1 because of the introduction of Conference South.

It maybe the same level (7) but it's significantly more competitive. The premier division is comprised of teams who finished no worse than top six in their respective division last season as opposed to last year which had a few good teams and a lot of bad one's.

On that basis, mid table is a reasonable achievement. I don't understand why people can't comprehend that. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Yes but if you look at the league changes there are now more clubs below us and less above us so although TECHNICALLY the amount of promotions needed to obtain league status is the same we are, in fact, in a higher league!

at least three new players for next season.

One central defender as understudy to Steve Daly, he's not getting any younger and picking up more injuries.

Two mobile ball winning central midfielders.

One to replace Mets, too slow and makes to many mistakes and one as understudy to Wilko, as per Steve Daley.
