substitution

This is the first time i've posted on the website but I thought i just had to because I am seething over over the game last night.

The game was very tight, Slough were the better team and pushing to win the game, the defence were playing well and i thought Hodgey was having a good game. Then blow me down a substition, they take hodgey off and put danny steer on. Now I'm no master tactition but I thought there had to be some logic when they take a player off i.e. there having a bad game or wer'e pushing for a win and a forward comes on for a defender or we want to keep it tight and a defender replaces a forward. Can anyone tell me why they substituted Hodgey because in my oppinion it cost us the game or at the very least a point. On a brighter note I thought we played better, again three defensive errors have cost us and apart from near the end the midfield played well and Wilko was again awesome.

Reading Rebel,

I think the problem there was that Hodgey has recently had an injury problem, hamstring I think, so having come back from that the last thing he needs is three games in six days.

An injury like that just can't cope with that sort of schedule.

Must say though, couldn't see him limping or anything as he came off but probably just a precaution with the heavy schedule.

Hopefull Hodgey will be ok for the remainder of the season. It didn't help him having to go off last night but there is no point knackering anyone up for the rest of the season when theres still so mch of it left in such a short time. Much better last night, Bet Kevin will have a few busy weeks now.

I'd agree with Paul, but the wrong substitutions - after about 65 minutes they made a double sub bringing on two fresh pairs of legs when we were beginning to look tired. They took advantage of that - was a good substitution and good management from Gary Mac imo.
