Scoring Difficulties

Having now played 4 games and scored 6 goals, not one goal has been scored by a forward in open play.

Our top scorer is a defender, supported by 3 goals from midfield players and a penalty. Our forwards do seem to be struggling against the Conference defences and this has not gone unnoticed by the Fleet management, who have signed prolific goal scorer Darren Hay.

My question is we had to release Darren Smith in order to sign Toshy so once Hay has recovered from his op and fit to play will one of one established strikers be also released ?

I hope not because Booth, Hatch, Stadhart and Wilkins all deserve one season playing Conference football after their efforts last season, but can our budget stretch to accomodate Hay as well.

I agree. Liam has tremendous talent but I dont think he is ready for the conference yet. His build and enthusiasm makes him look careless to most referees and as we have seen so far this season we dont need to give refs any encouragement to get their cards out.

Having watched a little of the game on tele tonight its frightening when you see players such as Sinton and Clough playing in this league. I still feel hopeful of a top 10 finish though.

The only thing prolific about Darren Hay was the way he didnt score goals. Another Boro reject you've picked up there. Well done Gravesend.

Darran was a good goalscorer 1 goal every 2-3 games but as time went on he missed more and more games mainly with back trouble. I for one wish him well as he is a nice fellow.

Have we signed Darren Hay? I wasn't aware we had.

Andy you are quite right reading over Fords reports again, Hay is only training with us and I jumped the gun by assuming we had signed him, but my question still remains if we sign Hay will one of our regular strikers have to be released ?

On merit alone our strikers should be given a chance to establish themselves in the Conference but will their achievements of last season be enough to keep them at the club if they continue to struggle. As Smithy found out if we are going to survive in the Conference sacrifices have to be made.

Havent time to register and write it all again !

If Tostao ( I never thought I'd use a name from the best team ever on this board !) keeps providing those exquisite crosses then Wilko is the man to be on the end of them ,when fit .

I'm sure it is only circumstances that have resulted in a front two pairing that couldnt establish themselves in the Ryman league starting in a division higher .

With a regular scorer we'd be motoring .

Jairzinho , whoops !

Rivelino , stop it .

Thank you Doctor .

Here Here, Wilko is by far the best player in the air and we need someone to get on the end of those quality crosses coming from the right!!
