Doesn't Vic the Glad mind? Thought we had to have the sky blue & grass green because it was the GLS colours?

Not a problem now, apparently.

At least we haven't suffered the same fate as Worthing allegedly have. According to a post on confguide, their ground is now The Victor Gladwish Stadium.

I am not sure a gold shirt would suit the "fuller" figure <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/elephant.gif" alt="" />

As someone who has turned the demi-century mark, I can fully appreciate this comment. I'm just so glad I always had such a skinned rabbit physique in my long distant youth that now I only have to be moderately careful about how many indulgent food calories I add to the essential daily beer requirement.

Still rather we'd gone for the svelt white number: white is so much more slimming than bold colours, like red or gold - just ask Buncey after the photo of him celebrating his goal against Canvey which appeared in a recent programme (and I bet he's eaten a few hundred less pies than most other posters on this forum.)

Here's to hoping we continue as Morecambe's bogey team.

I too have long ago lost the 'racing snake' figure of my youth and as I have aged I have developed the kind of metabolism that no matter what I eat I still pile on the pounds.

I think I speak for many of us ageing lardarses on the 'curry and lager' diet when I say that next time the club is considering a new kit, presumably not for another five or six months, could we go for vertical stripes please. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I hear you there fella...!! Though I am pretty active and eat properly, I still cannot shift the spare tyre around my midrift...!!

I liken it to a fuel tank for a love machine and not a hunk of excess whale blubber...(which is a more realistic description..!!)

Keep active and cut out on heavy carbs (spuds, bread etc), reduce the lager (yes I mean lager..) and within a few weeks you will see and feel the difference.. Hopefully by the start of next season the figure will complement the gold strip, and not make you look like a giant easter egg..!!

Don't even go there, Daz - grounds carrying the name of a sponsor rank alongside the playing of music over the tannoy when the home team scores as one of modern football's greatest evils.

If it ever happened to us, I can only hope the original ground name would be retained by most, much like in the case of Bradford (i.e. the ground was technically called the Bradford and Bingley Stadium, but everyone still referred to it as Valley Parade anyway).

Totally agree... just what the heck are these meant to mean to the identity of the club, its town and their fans compared to the moniker of the original ground:

The Reebok Stadium - Burnden Park
JJB Sports Arena - Springfield Park
The Britannia Stadium- Victoria Park
O2 Riverside Stadium - Ayresome Park
Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium - The Dell
McAlpine Stadium - Kirklees

If it meant we could have a brand new stadium without paying so much for it I'd happily except a sponsored ground. It's a question of money saved vs anti-commercialism (<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />)
