after blowing the ryman league away last year, is your stay in the conference over after just 12 months???

big up the vics and forest green, canvey are in freefall! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

You'll look the moron for posting this tosh......

Anyway "freefall" insinuates that we are on a rapid decent. We have never been high enough to "freefall". 19th place will do.

why you getting worked up?

my point is, if we, northwich, keep picking up points and overtake you, forest green will be breathing down your neck and having to go to the lawn on the last day, i think you would get a good kicking......

they are a better side than you from what ive seen!!

I ain't getting worked up.

You came on our messge board.

If your a Vics fan then well done and full credit to your club for making up the defecit of points.

However, if you looked at the outstanding games we have more of a chance at picking up points in our remaining games than FGR.

We can afford to lose all of our remaining games including away to FGR if they fail to beat Hereford, Carlisle and Morecombe.

Please don't judge a side by the couple of games you have seen. If they are better than us they would have more points, but they don't.

We would only be bored if we were aiming for mid table.

I'm sure FGR raised their game against you and knew that it was probably their "crunch match" and one of the few opportunities to gain 3 points.

On the other hand we went to Leigh and didn't seem motivated at all.

Our manager has mentioned that there have only been 4 sides that have totally outplayed us and I tend to agree with him. Morcombe and Halifax away and Hereford at home. Not many of the other teams this season have really shown that spark of class.

We have learnt a lot this season and although others felt we would do extremely well, most of us are happy even finishing 19th as long as we consolidate our position in the Conference.

Both class players and both been out for long spells this season with injuries. One of the lessons learnt, injuries, along with crappy officials can change your season. I'm sure these will be the lessons learned by Grays next year as well.

Don't get me wrong I don't think they will struggle and be perched near the bottom of the table but other factors that they may not have encountered in the conference south will knock them a little.

They have some quality players who fit the typical big, strong and pacey profile that a lot of teams in this league have. Unlike us and Northwich they are full time and I think this makes a difference throughout a season particularly for injuries where players can recover in the right environment rather than laying bricks or whatever the following day.

I think they will get around the 500 to 600 mark next season. They have a big catchment area but its all about getting bums on seats. So less fans than us, but more than Leigh RMI.

I think Grays will do OK next season. They have some quality players and seem to be able to attact decent young players who have failed at league level but are still hungry to prove themselves and maybe get back onto the league stage.

Freddy Eastwood did this and they have players such as Mitchell Cole and Dennis Oli who could quite easily get back into league football.

Well...I'm siding with Yellow on this. I think Grays will survive in the Connie, and they certainly have the potential within the current squad to finish higher than Canvey, GNFC & Daggers will this year.

They need more supporters though, that's for definate.

As Fleetfanatic points out - it doesn't mean that they can perform at a higher level.

Don't forget Grays signed Aaron Maclean who Canvey were also interested in.

I remember Shots fans not knocking Aaron but saying that he was excellent at Ryman level but struggled at Conf. Nat. level. Many good players fail to make the grade at this level after very successful careers in the divisions below. I'm sure we all have opinions on some of those that pull on a Yellow shirt and whether they have made a successful step up from Ryman Premier to Conf. Nat. this season.

Perhaps this shows that overall there is a big difference between Conf. North/South and National.

yup.. but the diff between the old ryman prem to the conf national and conf south to the conf national is, or rather was a lot bigger.. there were probably less than half a dozen teams in the ryman prem that could give us a decent game everytime we played em.. there must be more like ten plus in conf south..

Well you do have a bit of inside knowledge mate. Seen Grays once this season and they looked pretty awesome.
