We Deserve to go down?!?!?!?!?

So do we deserve to go down..........? IMHO we do.

But what changes can we make???.......Management?, Players? Who would dare tell Kingy that we need a new manager! I think the squad we have is more than capable of securing Mid table in the nationwide conference so what is it we need to change?

That was Leighs 1st Home win in 7 Months....!..Something has to be done close season!

if we finish 4th from bottom on goal difference then we deserve to stay up.. next season i think only one team is going down as they expand the league .. all we need to do is survive this season.. northfleet struggled in their first season and went to the last game.. all the talk of if leigh fgr and boro wern't in the league is bollox.. they are.. if there is one outstandingly crap team in the league next season nad it isnt us and we stay up second from bottom ill be equally unbothered.. it was a long struggle to get into this league, just staying in it at the mo should be plenty enough for everyone..

im sure things can be turned round soon

Hang on a cotton-pickin' minute there boys. Have you given up already? Why all the gloom and doom? OK. If we go down this season, and we end up bottom of the Conference South next season and we then find ourselves bottom of the Ryman League... Yes, we will be back in the Essex Senior League, perhaps even the Pitsea & Bowers Sunday Pub League in no time. But why such a bout of pessimism all of a sudden.

Remember when we went into Ryman 1, got relegated to Ryman 2 and the following season took Ryman 2, then Ryman 1 by storm and ended up in the Premier. Perhaps going down that season was the best thing that ever happened to us.

If you have been supporting Canvey for 10 years or more, you will have seen the following pattern -

League achievements

1995 – Ryman League (then called Diadora) Div. 3 Runners Up.

1996 – Ryman League (then called ICIS) Div. 2 Champions.

1998 – Ryman League Div. 2 Champions.

1999 – Ryman League Div. 1 Champions.

2001 – Ryman Premier Div. Runners Up.

2002 – Ryman Premier Div. Runners Up.

2003 – Ryman Premier Div. Runners Up.

2004 – Ryman Premier Div. Champions.

Yes, there were blips along the way. Were we ever promised that it would be up and up and up for evermore? I think not.

Let's get realistic. If we stay up - fantastic. If we go down I shall still be there at The Lane (either singing or being a cardboard cut-out) but with an optimism that we will soon bounce back.

I'd like to think that when Robert Errington does a long term review of 1995 to 2015 it will note two minor blips in the fantastic climb from Essex Senior to Football League. I also hope that he will not spend too many pages on the 'gloom and doom' supporters of the 2004/05 season.

Let's take one step back and look at the worst that can happen (bar relegation that is).

Assume that we get no more points in our final four games and look at the remaining fixtures for our rivals-

Northwich

Home: Leigh,Aldershot,Crawley

Away: Exeter,Burton

Forest Green

Home: Hereford,Canvey

Away: Carlisle,Morecambe

Farnborough

Home: Gravesend,Tamworth,Halifax

Away: Scarborough,York

and Canvey

Home: Scarborough,York

Away: Tamworth,Forest Green

Looking at the above Northwich should gain a few points and possibly climb above us, whilst Farnborough do not have the hardest of finishes, but with 10 points to make up on us should find it just out of their reach.

Forest Green must be our main hope as they cannot afford to lose two games. If they do then victory in the other two will leave them on the same points as us but, hopefully, we will shade it on goal difference.

Positive thinking based on us gathering no more points so let's hope that we get a point or two, or better-a win, from our last games and stay out of trouble.

As for next year? Well that's next year and a lot could happen by then, but surely the name of the game is to support your team whatever division they may compete in.

Here's to the Premiership in due course!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong, i'll be there next season come nationwide conference football or not.

Last year we waltzed the league without even breaking a sweat, we have turned over conference teams time and time again, not to mention a few league sides in various cup competitions.

Why when we finally get here does everything go pear shaped. You can bleat on all day about 'learning curves' etc etc but we have had nearly a whole season to learn and we have learned the square root of [****!!****] all! We continue to bring in Midfielders <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />, refuse to buy new defenders <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />, sack our best defender for a practical joke <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />, and bring in loan players to keep the bench warm......it all seems a bit weird to me.

Canvey Crane, your right we have beat conference and league teams before we were in this league BUT they were one off games and as you know we were underdogs in each and everyone of them.

This season is alot different as we are playing up against quality teams (apart from a couple) week in week out.

Last season we beat f'boro 6-0, again one of game. look at grays, theyve hammerd burton and exeter in the cup but can you honestly say there going to be doing that every week next season? i cant see it myself

I do agree with you about some of the signings/loans we have made this season have been abit strange but we just have to stick by the lads who we have got. keep the faith
