Some folk connected with this record will still be around as it was Concord Rangers in 1996-97 who scored 106 in a 28 match season, helped by two 7-0's, a 9-0 and a 8-0 and 9-1 away !

Individually, records do not exist before season 1977-78 , since then it was David Hope of Bowers United in 1998-99 with 45 !

Yes, quite true and he won the Don Douglas Leading Goalscorer Trophy with 38 , the season after Dave Hope. The Leading Scorer totals are only for League, League Cup and Gordon Brasted Trophy ( formerly Harry Fisher Trophy ). I am sure that Ben and Dave scored more in outside competitions such as the Vase and F A Cup etc.

The " quickest goal" - nice one Zody - I will need time to consider that one as it does not appear in our records . Heaviest defeat is the drubbing that Woodford Town got from Stansted at Hargrave Park a few seasons back 15-0 in a League Cup round. Heaviest League defeat is by the same club, in their brilliant F A Vase winning 1983-84 season, they travelled over to poor old Coggeshall Town and beat them 15-1 on a midweek May evening so that is the Away record as well. The 21-0 defeat of East Ham Utd by Bowers United one Saturday many moons ago ( the "team " got lost ) was deleted by the Monday morning when it was discovered that the Hammers had fielded less than 7 players !

Steve Mead. Concord v Enfield Town.

At least I think Mead got the credit. It was either his goal or an og for Chopper in his woeful attempts to deal with the bounce. One end of the field to the other with only the two keepers getting a touch.

I certainly recall a game where the result included Mead as a " scorer" just a couple of season's back. I saw a keeper do this, from the sea-end for Southend Manor against Beacon Hill Rovers many years ago in the Essex Intermediate Cup, It went into orbit, wind assisted, over the half way line and straight down into the north end goal without bouncing !

There is a thin division between shock horror and farce and Mrs LC has been involved in a few - two come to mind, Steve Wheeler at Bowers United in his playing days falling head first over the perimeter barrier and spewing all over her , also, having bought a brand new white coat the day before, a Canvey player at Harefield United on a mud soaked pitch in the F A Vase kicking the ball straight at her and she missed catching it - result, oh dear !

For me, the one and only time I have been a "club linesman", Howard Mackler ( now in charge at Galleywood ? ) in a game at Hale End Athletic, Walthamstow, blatently dived in the penalty area right in front of me , Ref looked over, I signalled " no penalty" and the ref turned round to my wife lounging in a deckchair by the half way line and said " Well, he's useless ..... hasn't got a clue what he's doing " He gave a penalty from which HW scored !
