Billericay 0-0 Hendon

Excellent 2nd half performance from Town, despite being down to ten men for much of the game. Bubb was controversially sent off 20 mins into the game after getting two bookings in 3 minutes. The 2nd booking was a poor decision in my view as Bubb didn't appear to make any contact with the Hendon player, winning the ball in an aerial challenge. The Hendon player went down injured after landing awkwardly - he appeared to go over on his ankle - and the ref sent off Bubb. Billericay battled away superbly 2nd half, much the better team and were probably unlucky not to win all 3 points. Mooro went closest with a 1st half header that drew a superb 1 handed save from the Hendon keeper. The ref had a poor game, failing to award so much as a free kick when Wallace was pulled back from behind when about to go 1 on 1 with the keeper. This is the sort of game that we would have given up on last season so a draw is a good result.

And C*nvey lost again Aldersh*t only drew as well.

Stalebuns won again so they have 12 points, then Basingstoke and Purfleet have 10 points as well as us - with marginally better goal difference.

A great battling display by de blues second half especially. It weren't 10 v 11 either, it was 10 v 12 with dat ref.Well dodgy sending off for sure.Fought Chrissy Moore and Russell Penn were wicked throughout de game.Undefeated we stand and only one goal let in in four games as well,so good start let's keep dis going.

I have to agree with what has been said already, a magnificent battling disblay from the boys who all showed a great deal of grit and determination to come away with a draw. the ref's performance was weak and had it not been for his display we would have surely won this game. all the lads played extremely well, but martin carthy, paul fewings and danny kerrigan all had magnificent performences, paul and martin clearly giving absolutely everything they had.

if the lads show this kind of battling spirit i feel we will fare extremely well this season

here's for more of the same at maidenhead!!!

yeah i agree with most of what was said. initially i didnt think bubb made contact for the second challenge but as the guy was carted off on a stretcher i spose summin must have happened. i think bubb was a bit stupid to attempt the tackle anyway in a harmless area of the field having just been booked he gave the "ref" a chance to chuck him off.

a bold substituition at half time to bring on wallace n play with two up front which nearly paid off for us. the team played like demons and the management must be well pleased with the effort that the lads put in. for me russell penn was outstanding today and he should take great confidence from his performance. i dont think you can ask for more than 100 pc effort n committment and thats what we got from the team today so lets hope that carries on and we can pick up some points on saturday....and tx to gc jnr for the coach money for sat..lets hope we can cheers the blues onto 3 points

I hold my hand up and fully admit that Penn had a superb game today. He was the pick of the bunch of the defenders today although McDonald did get shown up a few times for his lack of pace and poor use of the ball. Carthy had a blinder and reckon Wallace could have just staked his claim for a starting place. This, like the Ayslebury game was another that we would have lost last season, but the lads battled hard today and i think most of us would never complain too much about the result if we feel the lads have given it their all. As for Bubb, well i can safely say that the first booking was a joke, i was sitting just by where he made the tackle and there was little if any contact, their player got him that one but the second one was very much a forwards tackle. think he should have got booked for one of the two but not both.

All in all another great showing, we saw a different side to the team today, one where they all dug in a battled. Great stuff.

and canvey lost again

I agree, it was a gritty determined 2nd half display today, especially being down to 10 men for much of the game. But what I'm concerned about is that we didnt really have a player that looked as if he could do something special to create goalscoring opportunities. How many good chances did we create today?? The only chance I can remember is Mooro's header. We had nobody wide up front, Fewings and Wallace did their best but they're suppose to be in the middle converting chances, not creating them. I just hope we dont revert to long balls down the middle in the absence of wingers. Why Joe Baker was not even on the bench today only GC knows. If he does leave the club I think it'll be a big mistake, ok he didnt have a great season last term but he was still easily one of our better players, he's got pace and is always capable of beating defenders, something we never really looked like doing today.

if borgy has his way you will soon be resorting to the long ball game.Enjoy your success while it lasts.

And to add my twopenneth in on watching Town for the first time this season - quite impressed. No shortage of spirit or commitment from any of the players which is a vast improvement on last term, especially the corresponding fixture back in December!!! Who'd have put money on a 0-0 today after that...

Didnt see either of Bubbs bookable offences - I was watching the ball! - but did get a good look at him as he walked past me to the dressing room and he looked genuinely shocked and upset by his dismissal.

Bold sub at half-time (no comment on the new announcer !!!) with Jamie making his usual strong physical impact and Fewings looked like the first proper quality striker we've had in the team for ages. Goals will come...

In the first half we had Marky Graham down the right who was giving the Hendon left back a big headache. In all of the three previous games we've had two wingers - the Graham brothers. The narrow formation second half was a result of being down to ten men. I don't think we're going to be a long ball team just yet......

I was very sad to hear fans slow-handclapping and booing a player being put onto a stretcher. I was on the opposite side of the pitch when Bubb fouled Woolner and it looked horrendous. Even if there was no contact (and I must say it looked as if there was), Bubb was fng stupid to make another reckless challenge so soon after being booked. The attack on Duncan, less than 2 minutes earlier, was about 40 yards down the pitch from where I was and I think it could have resulted in a straight red. He was late and had his foot raised.

I don't know what Dave McD was thinking of when he shouted at Duncan. Hendon fans went crazy at him, saying that Duncan had been out for a year with a bad injury. I heard in the bar afterwards that our doc reckoned there was no break for Woolner, but very bad bruising and he recommended an x-ray. I don't think that is likely if you fall awkwardly.

I thought the ref did well because the way things were going it looked there was going to be a war on the pitch. I counted 10 slaps/punches/pushes well away from the ball and there was an awful atmosphere. If we play like that every week we won't lose many at New Lodge.

Top Ryman team in Essex, now that sounds good.

Alvin was unlucky to be sent off for his tackle. I was right in line and he definately blocked the ball and did not make contact with the defender. The injury occured because the defender kicked the ball at the same time that Alvin blocked the ball.
