Full Time Football

McKimm almost certainly won't, and Wilkerson definitely won't, that's part of his reason for leaving Stevenage.

And I think you'll find that Lee Gledhill left a former club (Barnet?) because he didn't want full time football; he also seems pretty set on joining the police.

Still. Good news. Especially as it's being done in a managed & sensible way.

Excellent news and the Dagenham approach has to be the best way.

I'm sure there are a few of the squad who will be reluctant to go F/T so it's sensible to not shut them out as there are bound to be players we want to retain among them.

I have nothing but praise for the way the board are handling things at Stonebridge road, though, like others I feel Liam Daish has still to prove himself, so next season is one to look forward to with eager anticipation. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" />

You are of course correct to suggest that expecting a huge improvement next season is unreasonable. The problem is, though, that these plans for full-time football appear to be dependent on a gradual improvement in results coupled with an accompanying gradual rise in attendances. Naturally, if this is how it all works out then things will be moving on very smoothly.

But if the increase in attendances that the board is hoping for doesn't materialize (a possibility at least in the short term with the £2 price increase for next season), pushing the plans through to the very end (i.e. a fully full-time squad) would surely be foolhardy. Of course, if the plans progress in response to any increases or decreases in income, then we should be fine.

I welcome the news to a degree, but with some reservations - particularly the worry that the club are going full-time because they feel pressured by so many other sides in the division making the step, rather than because financial circumstances and so on suggest it is sensible.

Agree 100%. I think this has been given a lot of thought by the Board, and they know how quickly to move to Full Time status!

Does anyone have a list of full time and part time Conference clubs (National and South/North)?I could probably guess them, but an official list would be useful.

Troll throught the pages, it is there..... somewhere.

Also does anyone know the answer to my question? Say we see a player with amazing quality and want to sign him up but he will only stay part time will we go for it or will we leave him? If it happens this summer then surely we'll sign him up? We will already have a few part timers, one more won't hurt. But if it happens say five years down the line then we may thik again.

I agree with JC and AFF, I am happy with the news as long as the funding is right.

I think without this move we would inevitably be fighting relegation sooner rather than later if it is succesful it will put us on an equal playing field with the rest of the league.

However it is extremely unlikely to result in instant promotion so I hope the club can run as a commercial success while we await a championship winning side. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have been wondering all season what has the club been doing, no website, programme piss poor and just not a lot of communication from the club, it all looked pretty much bad news. Now I realise what the club has been doing, this is a BIG day in our history. I still remember where I was when I heard Abramovich bought the Blues and I will always remember where I was when the Fleet made this decision.

I have always thought of Brian as a clever man but now he has only go up in my estimation.

Doesn't the same apply to Proths. I think he may have encounted this problem when playing for Canvey. Mind you I would like to see him go full time with his talent.

Canvey aren't full-time, but he did turn down either Grays or Hornchurch, so he probably doesn't want full time either.

Of course, FF, if this combination is sufficient along with our current attendances to start the ball rolling, then fine. But it all depends on how much the plans rely on a big boost in attendances to be carried through effectively.
