the enviroment

not something i normally give much of a toss about it has to be said.. but yesterday at work me and the chaps were discussing cars as i am driving to the alps soon.. i had to lose the 3 litre v6 sports coupe when i got the dog and i need something bigger for this trip as well..

now i dont mind spending money on beer, holidays, comfy big seats on planes, nice hotel rooms, house type stuff etc etc but i really resent spending money on cars.. especially when the fking things half in value in 2 years (3 if its a kraut moter)..and i do about 6k miles a year

so when the chance came to get a 7 month old jeep on the cheap i hoovered it up.. now being american it comes with a nice friendly 3.7 v6 petrol block and that fancy american technology of overrcoming excessive weight with new lightweight materials,or option b, make it all out of steel and just find a way to get more petrol into the engine faster.. this jeep is one of the fastest things i have driven from zero to 30 mph.. it averages 15 mpg around town..

enamoured with my global warming prowess i was bragging to the lads here about how much carbon i was shredding.. i was somewhat distraught to find out that i was in a poor third on the litres front behind a 4.7 v8 litre jeep grand cherokee and a 5.5 litre merc jeep..

thats 13.9 litres between three of us!! a shade over 3 gallons of cubic capacity.. i commend my desk to the green tree huggers!!

A jeep - nice!

Now I've given up the booze (err.. sort of) I think the time is right to re-take my driving test and get some wheels. I've always been reluctant but kind of need to with the youngster.

Top of my list is a camper van, which Mrs Z is also keen on, but these things are pretty pricey right? (I know nothing about cars/vans/etc.)

But a jeep? That's cool. I could go for one of them! But a really old one that's falling apart. My mate used to have a really cool old Land Rover - a 1965 model if that means anything to anyone. Could only do about 15mph I reckon, but boy did it have character.

The environment? The planet will suffer the effects many years after we've all gone, so not my problem.
