The National...

Every year I and a few mates go up to the big smoke for general consumption of beer and food. This is only interrupted to make a small wager on the National. I seem to have an uncanny ability to pick the horse that is destine to be dog food or glue in the very near future, so does anyone have a hot tip for me. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> If not it’s the pin in the paper again!

P.P.S I know, what silly twonk put the National on the same day as GNFC home game! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I’ll miss the Morecombe game now! Only my second home game missed though this season so I’ve not done to badly.

Many years ago I worked as a 'board-marker', for Mecca Bookmakers, that's before they had wall to wall TV screens. I got to know a few professional gamblers, and they all said the same thing. Only mugs and old ladies bet on the Grand National. The reason being, the length of the course and the amount of jumps mean that anything, from the favourite to a glue factory nag, can win it.
